Entitled Florida Neighbor Dumps Rotting Trash Into Man’s Backyard, Then Demands He Clean It Up: ‘The Audacity’

Not a very neighborly thing to do

Among the things not to do to one’s neighbor, leaving trash in their yard is most certainly one, which is what one Florida man supposedly decided to do. According to Mocsab on r/mildlyinfuriating, his neighbor had repaired their fence while he was out of town. However, upon his return, the neighbor had left all the rotting wood planks in his yard; when confronted, Mocsab said his neighbor had demanded he clean them up.

Neighbor replaced fence and left the old wood scraps in my yard to deal with.

Apparently, this next-door neighbor believed the fence was shared between him and Mocsab. “Since he paid for it to be installed, and carried all the new wood into the yard, that I need to remove the old debris,” OP wrote. “The audacity,” he exclaimed. “Not the best way to treat a neighbor.” Needless to say, tens of thousands of Redditors shared his frustration.

The first thing many commenters suggest Mocsab do is to chuck the rotting pickets back over the fence. Others joined in agreement, saying how that was exactly how they dealt with their pesky neighbor drama: throwing dead plants, dog poop, and other left-behinds by neighbors back onto their property. “Return to sender,” remarked a Redditor.

Some Commenters Accused OP of Being Entitled by Complaining and Not Just Throwing Away the Wood Himself

On the flip side, there were many commenters who felt OP was overreacting, saying how it would take very little time to clean up the old planks himself. “That would take me like 5 minutes to move,” wrote one commenter. “The thing to do in this situation is to say thank you for replacing the fence, and then move the boards to the street with a free sign,” suggested another.

However, it would appear that these commenters criticizing Mocsab or telling him that his behavior was wrong didn’t understand why he was so upset about this situation. He clarified in a response: “It’s not about the fence, or the cleanup. It’s about the lack of conversation and the fact that the neighbor just expected me to do it.”

In other words, the Florida neighbor’s alleged inconsideration is showing after just expecting the man next door to clean up his mess. Not to mention, several days had passed after Mocsab returned from his trip with the rotting wood just left in his yard without any comment from the neighbor.

Expectations become much easier to handle when all parties involved have clearly communicated things out, which unfortunately didn’t happen here.
