Internet users were left outraged after two Black customers accused a bar in Oklahoma of requiring them to pay before receiving their food.
One of the customers shared several videos documenting their experience at the establishment called O Bar. According to the customer, the bar required them to pay before they were allowed to receive their food. On top of the initial video, the customer wrote, “Has any other person of color been FORCED to pay before food came?”
In the video filmed, the two customers could be seen speaking with a worker identified as Abigail while discussing the payment they had already made. They requested a refund, claiming that previous customers had not been required to pay before receiving their food during earlier visits. As one customer counted the money, the other began speaking to a man standing nearby, who was identified as a manager. “We had really horrible treatment,” she said while explaining their concerns.
As the discussion continued, Abigail walked past one of the customers, who then accused her of intentionally bumping into her with her shoulder. The customer then continued explaining the situation to the manager. She alleged that another server working at the cash register had also treated them poorly. According to her account, her sister paid the server $120 for oysters, but they claimed the order never arrived.
Abigail then returned and interrupted the woman while she was speaking. She told the customers to leave the bar and stated that she was also a manager. After the customer refused to leave, Abigail warned that she would call the police on them.
The woman then continued speaking to the first manager and claimed that the situation became aggressive after Abigail approached them. “That’s not a way to treat people,” she said while describing the interaction. The manager’s response was to apologize for the situation.
In another video, one of the customers continued discussing the situation with Abigail. During the conversation, the other customer asked the worker at the register whether he had told Abigail that he felt uncomfortable because of them. The worker denied making that statement. According to the customers, Abigail had previously claimed that the employee felt uncomfortable around them when she first came over to address the situation.
The woman later added more details in text over the video. She wrote, “Abigail came outside hostile and aggressive because we were dissatisfied with her server. She felt the best way to mediate was to kick us out.” The customer also alleged that they paid $180 while ordering food but never received it.
In the video’s caption, the customer also accused the bar of discrimination. She wrote, “Oklahoma City O bar discriminating against African-American patrons, forcing us to pay in advance. We told them we did not want a card on file. We were going to tap out. The waiter literally waited until we pulled out the money to tap out. Please tell me this happens to everyone and we were not receiving discriminatory treatment.”
Following the incident, people online began leaving negative reviews on the business’s Google listing. The bar was also accused by some users of removing or deleting critical reviews rather than directly addressing the customers’ allegations about being asked to leave and being required to pay before receiving their food.
Viewers Outraged After Oklahoma Bar’s Alleged Mistreatment of Black Customers
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed support for the Oklahoma customers. They believed that the women may have experienced discrimination, leading to widespread outrage in the comments. One person wrote simply, “SUE,” while another claimed the establishment had a history of similar complaints, saying, “There’s multiple reviews of discrimination at this place dating back to three years ago…I’m so sorry this happened to you.”
Others also shared their perspectives on the situation. Some said they had never experienced or worked in an establishment that required customers to pay before receiving food. One person wrote, “No. Server for a whole decade and never once would that have been a policy,” while others praised one of the customers for how she handled the interaction. “The way you handled that conversation. I need to channel your energy. You spoke so eloquently,” another commenter said.
The customers’ experience at O Bar left many people upset. Viewers started discussing the situation online, and some suggested that the alleged treatment reflected possible discrimination against Black patrons.
