A Georgia homeowner is fed up with delivery people handling his packages, calling them all “idiots.” His rant on the internet has drawn some attention, and among the thousands who tuned in to his post on r/amazonprime, he might be the one in the wrong. His complaint was that his drivers weren’t following his list of instructions, which is exactly what Redditors believe is the issue, since “They don’t read the directions.”
Going by The_Tolen_Mar on Reddit, the homeowner complained that his Amazon delivery drivers have not been following directions on his orders for ages. “I have called customer service three times in the last week. This is ridiculous,” he exclaimed. According to his post, he has a box where he wants his packages placed, but drivers just don’t seem to care about his wishes.
The_Tolen_Mar has even added signage with directions and arrows to direct drivers to the box, albeit without success. “I want to add one that says, ‘Are you stupid?’” he growled in anger. He explained in the comments what his directions look like, which read, “Do not drop packages in front of door. Look for the crate. All packages must be dropped in the crate, NOWHERE ELSE! The delivery location has a handicap ramp and a red car is always parked at the Location.“
A commenter quickly pointed out his first problem: his directions are so long that no Amazon driver would bother to read through them all. “First sentence, all caps: PUT PACKAGE IN THE RED BOX,” the Redditor suggests. Another chimed in response, adding how Amazon drivers in particular are “hyper-focused on delivering ONLY and getting the evidence of the delivery” and aren’t inclined to read anything.
Reddit Explains How Amazon Drivers Are Rushing to Complete Orders, Not Please Customers
Most of the time, Amazon delivery drivers are working against the clock. “Just find house, drop package at door, take picture, and RUN back to the truck. They are running way too fast and hard,” explained a Reddit user. While sympathy for any physical labor worker is appreciated, plenty of other Redditors expressed that some drivers are just rude and very anti-customer in their behavior, regardless.
A need for condensed, easy-to-read directions aside, other commenters criticized OP for having a front door that looks like something out of Resident Evil. “Bro that looks like a drug den. No way I’m spending there more than half a second,” remarked a user. “Sketchy front door probably distracting them from reading the sign or sticking around long enough to bother with a box,” agreed another.
The sad truth for most delivery workers is that they are overworked, according to a comment. So even if this Georgia homeowner or other customers manage to do everything right, in the end, their packages’ fate still lies in their driver’s competence and mood.
