A video posted by 2026 Los Angeles, California, mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt features a ballot drop box littered with trash and debris. In a caption accompanying the video, Pratt writes, “I don’t even need to make campaign ads anymore. Karen and Nithya just keep making them for me.”
Commenters shared their frustrations with this in the replies below the video, with many condemning current mayor Karen Bass for allowing a drop box to get that way.
In the video, you can clearly see that the ballot drop box is not manned by anyone and has what looks to be a grocery cart filled with trash next to it. Nearby lay a tarp with some more debris and litter along the side of the curb.
According to recent campaign initiatives by Pratt’s team, there have been significant moves towards cleaning up the city. Most recently, a campaign featured signs to vote for Pratt that were powerwashed into dirty sidewalks. The signs read, “Imagine if the streets were this clean.”
While commenters were angry about the fact that the ballot box was trashed as it was, others were concerned about the lack of security around it. This developed an entirely different conversation concerning voter fraud and putting unauthorized ballots into the box.
Reactions to Trashed Ballot Box in Los Angeles
Commenters were shocked to see the state of the ballot box, and especially that the post was made to Spencer Pratt’s personal X account. One person wrote, “Good lord 🤦🏻♂️ You even have to step over trash and a bum drug addict just to vote This discourages and disenfranchises voters at this location.”
A different commenter agreed witht he sentiment, writing, “It doesn’t get any worse than this. God I hope you win.“
Alongside these comments were those more concerned about fraudulent voting implications, including one person who wrote, “The concept of a drop box to vote blows my mind. You create an easy opportunity to cheat and someone will do it.” Similarly, another commenter wrote, “I don’t see you losing @spencerpratt unless there is massive cheating, which California is notorious for. Really hoping you are elected!! LA needs you!”
The 2026 Los Angeles County election for Mayor will commence on November 3, with Karen Bass and Spencer Pratt leading the race. Currently, as the video continues to go viral, more people are leaving their opinions in the comments below, expressing their frustrations.
