A video of a woman at a local convenience store in Oregon is making waves online. In it, the woman was seen confronting an employee at the store in Portland after a homeless man was removed from the premises.
Involved in the confrontation and the one to post it, TikTok user Rosiegrahamsss (Rosie) starting recording herself arguing with the store cashier. The man can be heard asking her to leave the store, or else he’ll “call the police.” Rosie gives him the go-ahead, saying, “Call the police on me,” all with a smile on her face. When he asks if she’s refusing to leave the store, she keeps telling him to call the police. He seems shocked by this, giving her multiple chances to leave first.
Rosie asks the employee why the homeless man needs to be arrested. The cashier tries to say the man allegedly stole things from them and tried to start a fight. Rosie said this wasn’t true at all, her being a witness. She tries to tell the employee he was likely “being disrespectful” to the homeless man and he’s not “mentally well.” While the cashier calls the police, Rosie says she’ll wait outside.
Rosie walks out to the homeless man, telling him “these people are tripping” and instructs him to go get his stuff. She tells him to stand on the sidewalk away from the property so they can’t do anything else to him. Rosie then returns to the store when she knows he’s safe. She tells them she’s going to wait inside the store for the police to arrive.
While Rosie didn’t record what actually happened afterward or if the police arrived, she did post an update. Rosie personally took him to a local barbershop for a haircut and a shave. She recorded him looking his best, saying, “Whole different person.” She also posted a second update, where the man (Yohana) shares his story and she asks TikTok to help “change his life.”
There wasn’t a dry eye in Rosie’s comment section
The response to Rosie’s TikTok video was full of empathy and sympathy, many of whom gave their support to Rosie and Yohana.
“Thanks for standing up for vulnerable community members,” one of the top comments reads. Another user commented on the thread, siding with the store owner and asked, “Criminals are vulnerable community members now?” Except Rosie, a witness, stated Yohana hadn’t stolen anything, nor started a fight.
Further support came from another viewer who thanked Rosie, arguing homeless people “deserve to be treated just the same as anyone else that walks in there.”
To some of the nastier comments left behind, one TikTok user noted, “These comments suck. You did good.” And Rosie went on to help Yohana even more, so hopefully this is a happier, better chapter of his life!
