We all know that this Summer Game Fest will go down in the history books as one of the best we’ve had in years. And not only that show, but also the one from Xbox, several others showcasing indie titles, and more. And yet, despite the many long-awaited games and updates, there is one that has been the talk of the town, and that is Control Resonant. Even if it was only a preview for those who attended the event, many still talk about it, claiming it was the real highlight of the weekend, and one that shows more than just a sequel, but a brand-new experience in the Control universe.
Control Resonant Was the Highlight of the Weekend
There were many games showcased during Summer Game Fest this year, but it seems that none of them caused the impact that Control Resonant did. Now, we all knew about this title beforehand, with several previews already out there, claiming that it goes beyond just improving some of the things we saw in its predecessor.
Now, however, several players and outlets have played even more of this sequel, and reactions are beyond positive.
One of the things that many mentioned after playing the game during the event was how it doesn’t feel like a direct sequel, at least gameplay-wise. It seems as if it were a hack-and-slash paradise, and one that feels just like old-school games of the genre, but also extremely modern, as there are new exploration mechanics that we didn’t see back in The Oldest House, but with many action-packed moments in between.
On top of that, some players have even compared it to games where Platinum Games have worked on, and some even mention how it feels like Devil May Cry, which is quite the praise, especially in the hack-and-slash, action-adventure genre.
But beyond all of those things, what has really surprised people is how it still has all the Remedy Entertainment staples, with the strong narrative, mind-bending scenarios, and a lot of things that will likely make Control Resonant one of the most unique hack-and-slash games we’ve seen in a while.
Fortunately, we aren’t too far away from experiencing it. Control Resonant will launch on September 24, 2026, meaning that we’re just a couple of months away from seeing what has caused The Oldest House to fall and to see what Dylan will be facing in this sequel.
