Capcom has finally pulled back the curtain on what action RPG fans have been hoping to see for more than two years ago. During the latest Nintendo Direct, the company officially revealed Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a major DLC expansion arriving on October 9, 2026. Better yet, the expansion will launch alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 edition, giving newcomers a chance to experience the world of Gransys.
As fans expected, the Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen reveal trailer focused heavily on a brand-new northern region called Norgan. The snow-covered land appears to be far more challenging than anything seen in the base game. As the frozen wilds are filled with mountains, vision-covering blizzards, and, of course, new monsters ready to make any Arisen’s life miserable.
Some of them include a massive woolly giant, armed with a giant club and tusks. It can shoot out freezing breath capable of freezing player and their Pawns. Another major threat was a mysterious ice-controlling creature, an ice dragon, and a weird fire-breathing dragon with a sharp beak-like mouth.
The announcement of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is rather noteworthy because it appears to confirm months of fan speculation. Earlier this year, Dragon’s Dogma 2 players noticed several details in the game’s second anniversary celebration. A mysterious figure appeared in promotional artwork, while a translated in-game letter referenced griffins arriving from a northern region, mistranslated as ‘Organ.’ That rumor grew even stronger after Steam backend activity revealed updates to Dragon’s Dogma 2 PC builds.
As it turns out, those suspicions were right on the money. This surprise reveal should also come as a relief to many fans. After all, the base game was frequently criticized for feeling unfinished, where players felt the game lacked meaningful challenges and content. But with a massive new region to explore, no doubt that Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is giving reasons for players to update their online reviews.
