‘He Likes Them Young’: Pro-Algae Protester Mocks Trump’s Failed Reflecting Pool in Washington DC, Goes Viral

Looks like we need a scoreboard

A new form of protest has arisen in Washington, DC, right at the infamous Reflecting Pool, which is now overrun by algae and is no longer reflective. As such, the protesters are satirically pro-algae and appear to support the algal bloom that is now present in the Reflecting Pool for its rather minimal effort in “defeating” the Trump administration. One of their protesters has since gone viral for her rather witty take on the protest.

The protests took place over the weekend in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool area of Washington, DC. In the video, a woman wearing a pink frog costume labeled with “Amphifa” and carrying a “Team Algae” sign can be seen and heard yelling, “Let’s go algae, let’s go” again and again, and even praising the algae in the pool for “traumatizing that [expletive] so much,” possibly referring to President Donald Trump’s long rant about the pool.

In another clip, the pink frog Amphifa protester can also be seen heckling National Guard troops and cracking some protest jokes to people who are passing by, even clapping back against some civilians who supposedly disagreed with her. “How old is she?” the pink frog protester asked upon seeing a kid in the crowd, “He likes them young, you know,” she added as the family walked away.

Turns out the pink frog wasn’t the only protester in the scene, as other satire protesters also set up their own signage, such as “Algae Lives Matter,” while another protester can be seen and heard yelling, “Algae’s smarter than MAGA.” The protests appear to be a response to a follow-up beautification effort from the Trump administration, which will supposedly cost millions more in taxpayer money.

The satire protests have sparked a debate

As expected, people online are split over the pro-algae protests that are mocking the Trump administration’s failed attempt at the Reflecting Pool. Some have pointed out that the protest is in observance of the First Amendment or freedom of speech, “They are ok.. they pledge a oath to the Constitution..They understand protest are legal and protesters have rights…”

However, others have dug into the identity of the pro-algae protester and have accused her of being a foreigner. “The Pro-Algae protestor is actually a foreign agitator named Nadine,” claims one commenter, leading to further accusations and even mentions of ICE, with another commenter suggesting, “Wow send ice out there do you hear that thick [expletive] accent.”

In any case, the protests are not the only notable incidents happening around the Reflecting Pool right now. Earlier last week, maintenance workers poured hydrogen peroxide into the Reflecting Pool as part of the rehabilitation effort, and after the peroxide dumping, a dead duckling was also found floating on the pool.
