California Residents Frustrated Over New CityWalk Security Protocols: ‘This absolutely sucks’

Those living in California, more specifically, in Los Angeles, may already know that there have been some monumental changes to the good old Citywalk. Recently, new security protocols were implemented, but it seems that it only took a couple of days to realize that these changes were bad. So far, many customers and moviegoers have complained about these changes, saying they have killed Citywalk and will now need to find a new experience like it in the city.

Universal Citywalk's new security protocols… even though I knew it was coming I was still surprised.

For context, for those who don’t know, one of the most iconic locations in Los Angeles, California, Citywalk, is implementing new security protocols. Now, while some of these might look like a good idea on the surface, they have caused major backlash among all residents.

They officially killed CityWalk

Many Redditors have shared their stories about the “new” Citywalk experience in California, and most have not been positive. For instance, Reddit user Nobodycouldknow shared their experience at Citywalk this weekend, which wasn’t ideal, to say the least.

According to the above post, OP arrived at Citywalk at 7 pm and struggled to find the checkpoint because there were no clear indicators of where to go. After a 10-minute walk, they found the checkpoint and had to wait there even longer, as only two lanes were open. Then they had to go through these “security protocols,” which they claim were handled by two 19-year-old employees who barely waved them through the metal detector. Other users also reported that parking and moving around the place is a hassle, as there is no easy or fast way to access certain areas.

As expected, these protocols backfired, with many Redditors now complaining about the new era of Citywalk, which they believe could end up killing the whole experience.

California Redditors Already Mourning Citywalk

Several Redditors commented on the many Citywalk posts, noting that these changes will greatly harm the experience.

“That sounds awful. I pray that never comes to a theater near me.”

“Man, this absolutely sucks. When I went last week to watch Disclosure Day, I parked in the EV parking at Jurassic. It is like a 2-minute walk, up the escalator, and straight to AMC. Very convenient. I can’t believe that was the last time I’ll ever do that.“

Others, however, have started recommending other places for the Citywalk refugees.

“The Burbank 16 IMAX welcomes you with open arms and just a broken escalator.“

In the end, many hope that someone reverses these changes, as Citywalk is such an iconic location that will only suffer from this.
