The story was shared on TikTok by user @joslynmarie33, a close friend of Mariah. The video quickly went viral, reaching millions of views and drawing widespread attention from users who became invested in Mariah’s situation and her ongoing health battle.

Mariah was diagnosed in March 2023 with stage 2 colorectal cancer, which later progressed to stage 4. Over the past year, she has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy and five major surgeries as part of her treatment journey.

Recent scans showed the cancer has spread to her liver, distant lymph nodes, and possibly her lungs. Doctors indicated that further treatment would mainly consist of ongoing chemotherapy every two weeks, continuing until it is no longer effective.

Despite the progression, the Alabama woman traveled to California to consult with a specialist focused on clinical trials and immunotherapy options. The proposed treatment could offer additional ways to slow the disease and extend her life, but would require frequent travel between states along with significant financial and logistical challenges.

Mariah is also a single mother to her 6-year-old son, Huckston, and her support network has emphasized the importance of keeping stability for him during her treatment period.

According to her friend, Mariah also experienced severe complications, including sepsis twice, and eventually expressed a strong wish to return home to Alabama. Since she was not in hospice care, her friend turned to social media for help coordinating transportation. An air medical evacuation service was later arranged to fly her back home so she could be with her family.
