New York’s Megyn Kelly Gets Torched After Blaming Supergirl’s Box Office Stumble on Star Milly Alcock in a Brutal On-Air Rant: ‘Very Weird Looking’

The internet has thoughts, and most of them are not on her side

New York-based podcast host Megyn Kelly has landed herself in the middle of a firestorm, and this time it is over a superhero. On Monday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the former Fox News anchor, 55, took aim at Supergirl’s below-projections opening weekend and pinned the blame squarely on the film’s 26-year-old Australian lead, Milly Alcock, in remarks that turned deeply personal.

“She’s very weirdly small, and they want us to believe she’s this fierce superhero. No,” Kelly said, before invoking the actress’s breakout role in House of the Dragon. “She was in Game of Thrones. She was very weird looking.” She went further, declaring Alcock “as loathsome as the girl who played in Snow White,” a swipe at Rachel Zegler, and adding, “We’re over the forced-upon-us girlboss era. It’s not authentic, it’s not organic, we’re no longer buying it.“

Megyn Kelly’s Milly Alcock Comments Spark an Instant Backlash

Kelly’s argument was that studios should court young male audiences, citing Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot as a counterexample. The film’s roughly $38 million opening, which landed well below projections, gave her critics plenty to work with. But the personal turn is what set social media ablaze, with users blasting the veteran broadcaster for mocking a young actress’s appearance rather than the movie itself, and coverage across entertainment outlets describing her as “slammed” over the rant within a day.

The replies piled up fast, and almost none of them took Kelly’s side. “Maybe I’m weird, but I think she looks fine. My guess would be the barrage of negative reviews it got on YouTube and elsewhere,” one user wrote, offering a different theory for the film’s soft opening. Another kept it simple: “She can say whatever, doesn’t make it true, she doesn’t know about movies.” One reply skewered the premise itself, asking, “Does she know that Supergirl is an alien from another planet?” while another called the rant “tone deaf and zero self awareness.“

The remarks Kelly was reacting to came from Alcock’s own press rounds, where the actress told Variety her heroine is a modern woman. “She can be strong. She can be tough. She can be messy. And I love how this film doesn’t center around any sort of love,” Alcock said, adding that the character’s resilience is something the LGBTQ community “can really relate to.“

Kelly is not the only famous name catching heat in the pile-on. Former Superman actor Dean Cain, 59, drew his own wave of backlash after laughing along with a meme mocking Alcock’s looks, with one user firing back, “What a fantastic way to kill your legacy. And what a glorious way to lose the respect of millions of kids that looked up to you three decades ago.“

Alcock herself has not responded to Kelly’s comments. For now, the loudest voices in the fight belong to everyone else.
