A Georgia woman went to her local McDonald’s to get lunch. While there, she thought she’d try every sauce on the menu, and even offered to pay for them. But the employee and manager had other ideas when they made it difficult for her to place her order.
Shannon (@shannonshanaye) says she doesn’t go to McDonald’s often but stopped there to get something to eat. She thought she’d have a little fun with her food and try every sauce they had on the menu. Shannon started recording after she made her order. She asked them if they put “one of every sauce” on the bill as well, and they told her they did.
When Shannon gets up to the last window to receive her food, she reminds them that she ordered one of every sauce. She even tells them, “I think I paid for one of every sauce. I specifically wanted one of every sauce even if I had to pay for it.” The employee at the window tells them that they don’t charge for all of the sauces and that two of them are included in her order. But they don’t seem to understand what she’s trying to say about paying for the extra sauces to be included.
At this point, the manager steps in and she sounds absolutely frustrated by the entire situation. Shannon asks, “Why can’t you just charge me?” and wonders why they’re not giving her the sauces she asked for. Eventually, Shannon convinces them that she’ll pay out of pocket for all the different sauces on their menu. She laughs as she questions why it was so difficult for them to just charge her for the five sauces.
In the end, they ask Shannon if she can pull over so they can take care of her order because it’s too complex. She says in disbelief, “For sauce?! Okay, I guess I’ll just come inside. Yikes!” She looks inside the bag at her order and realizes they didn’t include her fries, either. It’s the icing on the cake.
The video immediately sparked reactions from commenters. Many agreed that it was ridiculous how they handled the sauce situation. One commenter stated, “They acting like the CEO himself is gonna come in and give them all a 20 dollar raise the way they protecting that sauce.” Another quipped, “All that drama and talking. Just hand out the sauce to keep the line moving.”
Another commenter tried to explain why they may have given Shannon a hard time from their POV. They shared, “We act like this because we have secret shoppers who go in the drive thru to test us. If we give out sauces for free, we get in trouble. Possibly lose our job if we get caught often and yes it’s that serious.” They added, “I would give free sauces if companies weren’t like this.” That’s all fine, except for the fact that Shannon offered to pay for the sauces and was still denied initially. Commenters continue to share their reactions and strong opinions on how the McDonald’s workers handled this.
