An individual on Facebook Marketplace made a rather poor attempt to woo a woman from Oregon trying to sell her TV. His first and obvious mistake might have been trying to flirt in a space meant for business, and the woman wasn’t having it. “I’m just trying to sell a TV, man,” Reddit user Fetusal sighed in her post on r/mildlyinfuriating. The post featured screenshots of her rather surface-level conversations with two men who seemed less than interested in her offer.
The first was Adam, who attempted a “you’re cute” approach that didn’t get Fetusal unfortunately any closer to selling her 60-inch Phillips Smart TV. The next sorry excuse for a buyer was Eduardo, who didn’t waste any time showing interest in her rather than the TV. Like Adam, he did not take the deal.
As to why Fetusal chose to crop out her dialogue with Eduardo in the way she did, there’s an explanation. “He called me a slur shortly after so I’m not sure if he knows what he wants,” she remarked. A Redditor commented in response, “He sounds confused. Probably for the best.”

Almost 10K other Reddit users found the Oregon woman’s situation rather comical as well as frustrating. “No way you just said you’re worth the price of a used TV. I know that wasn’t your intention, but darn dude,” laughed a user. “It’s always BS on marketplace. Half the time I swear they don’t even wanna buy it, they’re just asking questions for fun, yo. And this, uughh,” groaned another commenter.
“This is why you should never use a female profile picture when selling on a fb marketplace,” added a third. A fourth asked why OP would act like “they’re into it” when they only care about selling the TV and not flirting. Fetusal responded with a statement many agreed with: “If they’re gonna waste my time, I will try to scam them.”
Plenty of other commenters chimed in with their own experiences, sharing how people use Marketplace for meaningless banter or as an alternative to Tinder. In any case, at least Fetusal can cross off two particular people from her list of buyers, if they ever attempt to show up again.
