A shameless man in Colorado was caught on camera entering a family’s backyard and kidnapping their dog as the animal appeared to resist being taken.
The family shared security camera footage of the incident in the hope that someone would recognize the man. According to the text displayed on the video, the man entered their backyard and stole their 2-year-old dog, Blanco. The incident was said to have taken place in Colorado Springs.
The security footage showed the man looking around the backyard before Blanco approached him. He initially tried to lead the dog out through the gate, but Blanco resisted by refusing to follow him and lying down on the ground. The man then removed the dog’s collar before continuing his efforts to take the animal.
After removing the collar, the man began pulling the dog as Blanco appeared to resist. The dog pushed against him with its front paws before backing away. Although the man looked directly at the security camera, he continued his efforts. He paused for a few seconds and repeatedly gestured for Blanco to come closer. He then put the dog’s collar in his pocket. When Blanco again tried to lie down on the ground, the man walked over, forcibly picked him up, and carried him out through the gate.
The family later shared an update, saying that Blanco had still not been returned. They also addressed questions about why the dog had been left in the backyard, explaining that Blanco has a doggy door and is free to go in and out of the house. “He has food, water, and shelter at all time!” the family wrote in a comment.
Thankfully, the family later shared another update announcing that Blanco had been safely returned after the video went viral. According to the family, they found him waiting by their front gate alongside a note that had apparently been left by the man who took him. Videos posted afterward showed Blanco happily reunited with his family. “We are so thankful and happy he was returned! Thank you for everyone for support and awareness. We are eternally thankful,” the family wrote.
The family also shared a photo of the note that had been left with Blanco. In it, the man wrote, “I’m sorry I did this I was not in the right state of mind. I was very drunk + don’t remember doing much of that day. I was very scared on not knowing how to return him.” He then added, “I been taking care of him bought him food and made sure he had water. I’m very sorry for what I did.” It is unclear whether the family plans to pursue legal action over the incident.
