An emotional moment

A woman in Memphis, Tennessee, decided to move her mother’s remains into their final resting place: a chicken cookie jar turned urn. While bizarre, that gesture was rather meaningful, and it wasn’t long before viewers started to share the odd urns their family members now reside in.

The video was shared online by Chloe Joy Sexton. She is a popular content creator and baker who often shows her craft and posts family vlogs. The clip attached above quickly became one of her most popular recent ones, garnering 1.2 million views, 267,000 likes, and more than 5,600 comments.

The Tennessee woman detailed that, four years ago, her mother passed away from brain cancer. She was cremated, and her remains were stored in a box. Chloe’s little sister would make little holiday outfits for the box as a cute family tradition. Until that point, an urn was never in Chloe’s mind.

“I never thought of my mom as somebody sitting in an urn,” she said. “I don’t think a lot of people would have at my age.”

Chicken Cookie Jar

However, it all changed when Chloe walked into a store and found the urn that was meant for her mother. It was no normal urn, of course: it was a chicken cookie jar.

It all made sense to Chloe, she said. Her mother loved birds, had a pet chicken for a long time, and she and her sister even called her Jenny Wren. So, she figured, a chicken cookie jar was a perfect place for her final resting place. Her mother would probably have loved the idea, as she called her hilarious and deemed her urn in character rather than disrespectful.

Chloe took her mother’s ashes from the box and placed them inside the chicken cookie jar. Tearful, she said, “She would love this,” and added that her little sister can now dress the jar like a porch goose.

“Welcome to your new home, Jenny Wren,” the Tennessee woman said in the clip’s description.

Social Media Reactions

The clip sparked multiple responses online, and while the urn was unorthodox, most viewers reacted with awe and lightheartedness. One said, “Jenny Wren who lives in a Hen.” Another one commented, “I love it. And I think she gave you a sign of approval when it rattled.”

Most notably, some viewers even shared their own odd urns. One wrote, “My husband is in a pirate cookie jar.” Another one added, “My father is in a fireproof box so he doesn’t get burned again.” A third one said, “My father’s in a Lego head. We all have ways to remember that are awesome.”

This is not Chloe’s first time honoring her mother in such a lovely way. She has previously made stones and diamonds out of her ashes.
