A Texas woman was dealing with major health issues when she went through the painful trauma of dislocating her jaw. In massive pain and fearful for what was to come, she went to the hospital, she wasn’t expecting a doctor with an attitude.
Posted by TikTok user Bendwithbrooklynn, she reveals a bit about herself and her medical condition, hEDS and TMJ. Unfortunately, she dislocated her jaw in the middle of the night and had to rush to the hospital. Brooklynn says “everyone was taking their sweet time” during her emergency.
For starters, she was in no condition to speak, so her mother did for her. They then had to wait around for the on-call doctor. When he did arrive, he stood in the doorway and stared. With difficulty, Brooklynn tries to say, “What?”
Brooklynn’s mother speaks up, and the doctor responds by saying, “I’m just trying to figure out why she’s freaking out.” Clearly irritated, Brooklynn manages to say, “Hello?” Instead of compassion, the doctor mocks and repeats her, like an agitated teenager.
Once again, Brooklynn’s mother interjects, defending her daughter, saying she’s “freaking out” over her “dislocated jaw” and “numerous issues and she’s in severe pain. Of course she’s freaking out.” The doctor responds with “Okay” with an irritated tone.
Brooklynn added more context in the caption of her TikTok video. When asked if the doctor could fix her jaw, the doctor allegedly told her “I don’t know” and stormed out. Luckily, her jaw was popped back into place (with the help of morphine). However, the agonizing “3 hours and 15 minutes” of waiting around, plus the childlike doctor, didn’t help.

From how Brooklynn’s commenters responded to her video, the way the doctor behaved wasn’t out of the ordinary. Many viewers had their own experiences to share, as well as how to avoid them in the future.
Among the top comments, a TikTok user wrote, “Oooh hearing him mock you saying hello sent me into a rage.” She then suggested Brooklynn report him. “That is absolutely not someone who should be working with patients.”
Another commenter pointed out that using the phrase ‘freaking out’ would be “considered a form of derogatory slang in medical contexts.” Others noted the doctor needed to “learn some bedside manner.”
To avoid situations like this in the future, one commenter offered some advice: “One word: Ombudsman.” She then shared that after asking for the hospital’s ombudsman, healthcare workers suddenly switched. It turns out the threat of getting in trouble changes their tune.
Though Brooklynn didn’t say she’d be seeking any kind of legal matter, she did say she’d be making “formal complaints and contacting the Texas medical board.” That’s cause-and-effect!
