It’s the therapy speak for me

An Oregon woman stepped in after watching a bank customer speak disrespectfully to a teller, only to become his next target. Their confrontation quickly became tense, leaving viewers praising her intervention while others wished she had pushed back even harder.

He stated that he “didn’t need an appointment because a manager told him,” but his behavior quickly became disruptive. The way he was speaking made the space feel unsafe for both staff and visitors. I paused my appointment so he would stop harassing the people at the front desk. If you know him, tell him he can’t be talking to people that way.

Steph Castillo, an Oregon-based creator who posts as @stephjcastillo, shared the encounter. In her caption, she says the customer had grown disruptive toward the front desk. He claimed a manager told him he didn’t need an appointment, so Castillo paused her own to let staff help him.

The video begins with Castillo explaining that she hadn’t stepped aside to help him personally. Instead, she says she did it for the employee he had been speaking to. “The way you’re speaking is not okay,” Castillo tells the man.

Rather than engaging with her criticism, he says he doesn’t care about her opinion and tells her to “show some emotional intelligence.” Castillo continues pushing back, telling him the way he speaks to people isn’t acceptable.

She also points out that he was able to get his banking done because she paused her appointment for him. That revelation doesn’t appear to soften his response. “I’m glad I took your spot,” he tells Castillo.

The exchange eventually ends when a bank employee steps in with a final message for the man.“I would appreciate it if you don’t come back to this branch,” the worker says.

The Internet Backs Her Up

Castillo’s willingness to defend the Oregon bank employees earned plenty of appreciation from viewers, particularly those familiar with customer service work.”As a former customer service representative. thank you. its exhausting,” one person wrote.

Another believed speaking up could make a difference beyond this encounter. “Thank you for saying something. Because he probably gets away with this behavior all of the time,” they commented.

However, some viewers wanted Castillo to match the man’s energy more forcefully. “Girl if you’re gonna speak up you need to SPEAK UP AND DO NOT STOP TALKING,” one person wrote.

His repeated references to “emotional intelligence” also became a source of amusement. “A woman told him he wasn’t emotionally intelligent one day & he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about it since,” one commenter joked.

The reaction didn’t stay confined to Castillo’s page either. Some viewers said they found what they believed was the man’s TikTok account and began commenting on his posts. “He’s deleting comments, we all need to keep circling back. He needs to apologize,” one person wrote.

Amid all the attention directed toward the man, Castillo received plenty of praise for stepping in. “What a phenomenal woman you are,” one viewer commended.

Castillo may have stepped in over how one employee was being treated, but the Oregon encounter raised a larger issue for some viewers. They saw misogyny not only in how the man spoke to the teller, but also in how he responded when the Oregon creator challenged him.
