A New York woman shared a video asking people online for advice, saying she felt she was losing her father to MAGA.
The woman, identified as Sadie, began her video by saying, “I’m losing my father and he’s not dying. He’s not sick.” She then explained that she felt she was losing him to MAGA, claiming that TikTok and Instagram were poisoning his mind.
“I can’t have a conversation with him without it turning into a ‘Mamdani, socialism, and oh I gotta move out of this Muslim country. Immigrants taking my tax dollars’ conversation,” Sadie said. She explained that she could no longer talk to her father about anything without the discussion turning political.
She then added, “I’m losing him. He’s almost gone. He’s literally almost gone to me.” Sadie went on to say that her father was almost dead to her because of how he “has progressed so much in his hate.”
Sadie said she was sure other people were experiencing similar situations with their parents during the election period, including relatives she believed had fallen for political propaganda. She asked viewers who could relate to her situation to share how they were handling it and whether they had managed to reconnect with their parents.
“Because I don’t know what to do anymore,” Sadie said at the end of the video. She also asked for advice in the caption, writing, “Please tell me how yall handle stuff bc I’m so close to going no contact.”
Viewers Sympathize With New York Woman Over MAGA Dad
Many viewers online sympathized with the New York woman and the difficult situation she described with her father. They offered advice on how to handle the strained relationship, with some suggesting that she distance herself from him. “Let him go,” one person advised. Another agreed, writing, “You can’t get them back. You have to let him go.”
Others shared their own experiences of political disagreements creating distance within their families. One woman wrote, “I’m in opposite situation- I’m losing my son to Turning Point crap…” Another person described a similar struggle with their adult daughter, saying, “Yeah I’m the opposite also. I’m losing my adult daughter and we can’t talk at all without her crashing out. I can’t believe the things she says to me.”
The video highlighted how differing political views can create deep divisions within families, sometimes making even ordinary conversations difficult. It also raised questions about how relatives can navigate these disagreements and whether maintaining a relationship is possible when their political differences become a constant source of conflict.
