Information concerning a major Republican figure being pardoned by President Donald Trump only three days after making a sizeable donation to Pennsylvania Congressman Ryan Mackenzie was revealed. The donor, Adam Kidan, is allegedly a key figure in a fraud and lobbying scandal involving Jack Abramoff.

Commenters were primarily those who believed that the ability for the President to be able to pardon certain individuals should be overhauled or eliminated. One even considered the move to be “pay to play.”

It is alleged that Adam Kidan donated $2,600 to Ryan Mackenzie’s political action committee on June 30. He was then pardoned by President Trump on July 3, nearly three days after the donation.

Allegedly, the congressman hadn’t spoken to the White House or the President about the In fact, according to The Morning Call, the US congressman claims to have returned the campaign donation. The donation made by Kidan is dwarfed by the nearly $350,000 raised in both the first and second quarter of 2026 by Mackenzie for America.

The business executive and former lawyer is tied to lobbyist Jack Abramoff concerning conspiracy charges in connection with the sale of casinos that were acquired in 2000. After pleading guilty to fraud and conspiracy charges, Kidan was sentenced to five years and ten months in prison, serving 31 months total.

Mackenzie is up against challenger Bob Brooks, the Democratic candidate, to represent Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. In an email sent to NOTUS by Brooks’ campaign manager Jenna Kaufman, she wrote, “Three days after a convicted fraudster cut Ryan Mackenzie a massive campaign check, that same fraudster walked away with a presidential pardon. That is corruption in plain sight.”

Comments and Reactions Toward Pennsylvania Congressman Campaign Donation

Commenters under the Reddit post were mainly in agreement with Kaufman’s statement. One of the very top comments reads, “the whole presidential pardon thing needs to be overhauled or eliminated entirely.“

Similarly, another person replied to this comment with, “There needs to be an overhaul. Up until now most presidents took presidential pardons fairly serious. Like releasing a prisoner who had been locked up for marijuana charges, or giving a second chance to someone who has rehabilitated and still in prison for a crime they committed as a teen. Or dead activists. Amongst many other examples.“

Other commenters were a bit more blunt with their replies. For example, a different commenter wrote, “Justice for sale. Thank you very much.”

As the information continues to spread on social media, more people are leaving their concerns, opinions, and frustrations in the comments section below.
