A Black woman in Florida accused a restaurant of racism after she said she waited 10 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation.
The woman shared a video after the incident, standing outside the restaurant while filming the building. She accused the restaurant of racism over what had happened, writing across the video, “Racist restaurant in Orlando, Florida, Danino’s Trattoria.”
As she filmed the restaurant, the woman said she had made a reservation before arriving. According to her, she waited to be acknowledged by the staff after entering, but no one approached her. “No one came to acknowledge that I was standing at the door,” she said.
The woman claimed that the entire restaurant staff saw her standing there for about 10 minutes, yet no one greeted or seated her. She further alleged that while she was still waiting, another customer arrived and was acknowledged and seated. As she continued describing the incident outside the restaurant, the owner came outside and stared at her. He then threatened to call the police before returning inside. “You can call the police if you want to,” she responded.
Despite the threat to call police, the woman continued filming the restaurant and repeating that she had allegedly been ignored for 10 minutes while another customer who arrived after her was seated. “This place is racist,” she said. She added that she would not return to the restaurant and hoped others online would make the same decision. At the end of the video, she showed a screenshot of her reservation as evidence to support her account of what happened.
In the caption, the woman added that a “white lady” entered the restaurant while she was still waiting and was immediately approached by staff and seated. She also claimed that the restaurant was not crowded at the time. As of now, the restaurant has not released a statement addressing the racism allegations.
Viewers Attack Florida Restaurant Following Racism Claims
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers criticized the Florida restaurant over how they believed the Black woman was treated. Several people also began leaving negative reviews for the business. “Wow, he came out all aggressive like! That’s ridiculous!” one person wrote, referring to the owner. Another commenter agreed, saying, “Dang, he walked out all aggressive!”
Other viewers said they planned to contact the restaurant to complain about the incident. “I’ll be playing on their phone all day tomorrow. I got you sis,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “I just called them back to back 10 times. He mad [expletive].” Someone else made an additional claim about the restaurant, writing, “As an Orlando resident we don’t eat there anyway. They were on restaurant report with roaches.” This claim has not been independently verified.
The video sparked a conversation about the importance of restaurants treating all customers equally regardless of race or background. It also led to broader discussion about how businesses accused of discriminatory treatment should be held accountable and whether customers should boycott establishments they believe have acted unfairly.
