The long-standing beef between New York’s A$AP Rocky and Drake has once again been put under a spotlight on social media after a teaser from an interview went viral. In the short clip posted on X, Rocky was asked whether he was going to fight the OVO mogul, and he immediately answered, “Bare-knuckled like the Irish,”  as though he had been waiting for the opportunity. It comes as no surprise that he responded that way.

While A$AP Rocky is willing to make things physical, both rappers are no strangers to using their songs as weapons. As reported by Hot New Hip Hop, fans deduced that Rocky referenced the mother of his children, Rihanna, and made direct and indirect disses at his rival, Drake, in his album “Don’t Be Dumb.” One of the tracks, “Stole Ya Flow,” contained a particular line that aimed at the Canadian artist. It read: “First you stole my flow, so I stole your [expletive].”

Drake appeared not to let the diss slide, as A$AP Rocky and Rihanna both received a few jabs in Drake’s “Burning Bridges,” where he rapped, “Your baby momma ain’t even post a single, damn, where she at?”

And added, “You saw my brother, you was tryna fix it, now you drop your album and you back dissing.”

New York Fans React To A$AP Rocky’s Statement

The interview teaser sparked widespread discussion about the longstanding feud, with users reacting with a blend of humor, skepticism, and strong fan loyalty.

Questioning the motivation behind the challenge, a commenter wrote, “You can’t be this insecure.” Analyzing Rocky’s readiness, an observant user noted that the response was calculated and premeditated. Making a witty pun on the Irish tradition, a commentator summarized Rocky’s statement as a willingness to stage a massive, record-worthy fight. Eager to see the rivalry manifest in real life, someone wrote, “Someone needs to make this a celebrity boxing event immediately.” A sarcastic user claimed that the rapper would likely need his partner’s permission before any physical confrontation could take place. Another joked that if the two rappers ever got into a ring together, the argument over Rihanna would dominate the entire fight.

A critical user dismissed Rocky’s statement as a desperate ploy for attention, expressing hope that his partner feels embarrassed by his behavior. A supporter expressed admiration for the direct confrontation, saying, “Bare-knuckle like the Irish just means Rocky’s ready to scrap old school, no gloves, no excuses, and I respect it more than any sneak diss track ever dropped.” A fan enthusiastically wrote that they would gladly place a bet on the Harlem rapper to win, humorously citing his personal life as proof of his dominant energy.
