A New York Burger King customer has drawn attention online after claiming he waited 12 minutes for a fresh meal, only to receive food he described as “hard as a rock.” The TikTok has prompted viewers to debate whether he was justified in demanding a refund, free food and additional compensation.
The video comes from TikToker Jt Lo, who has only posted two videos despite already attracting a modest following. In the footage, a man sits in the passenger seat of a vehicle as he confronts a Burger King employee at the drive-thru window. The customer has already eaten part of his meal, with mayonnaise still visible on the side of his face as he argues that the food is cold.
“Get me your manager, please. Immediately. Thank you,” the customer says before turning to the driver beside him and asking him not to speak.
Moments later, another employee comes to the drive-thru window, prompting the man to explain why he’s upset. “Oh, hi. I’m a tremendous customer here. And we were in there for twelve minutes waiting on fresh food. Twelve minutes. We made it crystal clear,” he says.
The customer goes on to praise the employee who initially served him before claiming the meal was still unacceptable. “The guy waiting on us was a nice man. I like him a lot. The lady said to the guy, ‘here’s my crispy chicken.’ Everything here was cold. Okay, I’m not gonna eat. I’m pissed off. I want my money back.”
He then asks for the entire meal to be comped, arguing that it was far too dry to eat. Describing it as “hard as a rock,” he even jokes that “my dog would break his teeth” trying to eat it. The customer also asks for coupons to make up for the inconvenience, prompting the employee to offer him a refund.
However, the offer does little to satisfy the customer. Instead, he continues to demand two $10 coupons for the time he spent waiting. After the employee explains that she is not authorized to provide them, the man asks for free food on top of a refund. The worker politely declines, reiterating that the only compensation she can offer is his money back.
Growing increasingly frustrated, the customer responds, “You’re not authorised? I waited here 12 minutes. Forty-four minutes. I sit there in Corona. And you’re not authorised to do anything else? You’ve gotta be kidding me. What kind of place are you running? I’ve been coming here for, like, 11 years. Don’t do that to me. I sat here and waited like a fool. It’s wrong. Do something right so I can go home.”
Before the exchange ends, the man goes one step further, demanding that the employee double the value of his refund because of how upset he is. While the footage suggests he ultimately received a refund, it is unclear whether his request for additional compensation was granted.
Viewers Weigh In
The exchange quickly drew reactions on TikTok, where many viewers were distracted by the customer’s appearance as much as his demands. One person joked, “The mayo on the mouth makes me wanna 🤢,” while another poked fun at his timeline, writing, “12 minutes plus another 12 minutes is not 44 minutes 🤔😂.” Similar reactions appeared on Reddit, where one user admitted, “I hated it but I couldn’t look anywhere else 😆.”
Others felt the customer crossed a line once he began asking for extra compensation. “The entitlement is crazy,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “complaining and asking for a refund is one thing but to literally tell them what you believe is ‘owed’ to you is insane!“
Not everyone was critical, however. Some viewers leaned into the customer’s repeated claim that he was a “tremendous customer.” One person joked, “But he’s a tremendous customer,” while another argued, “they owe him 3 coupons and a refund honestly.”
Whether viewers sided with the customer or Burger King, the exchange highlights just how quickly a disappointing fast-food order can spiral into a much bigger confrontation. As the saying goes, the customer isn’t always right, and many felt that line had been tested here.
