Two Missouri women have sparked a conversation about personal safety after sharing footage they say shows a man following them to their car. The TikTok, which has amassed millions of views, prompted hundreds of viewers to discuss the precautions many women take when walking to their vehicles alone.

Ame Meli’s TikTok account mainly focuses on everyday lifestyle content, with videos featuring friends, family and day-to-day moments. Unlike most of her uploads, however, her latest post captures an unsettling encounter in a Missouri parking lot that quickly drew millions of views and thousands of comments.

In the footage, the TikTok creator is sitting in a vehicle in a Missouri parking lot in broad daylight as she films a man standing outside the passenger-side window, staring into the car occupied by the two women. Text overlaid on the video reads, “POV: You are women by yourselves,” while the caption adds further context, claiming, “This man followed us to the car. #security #woman #staysafe.”

After several moments of the man lingering outside the vehicle and staring at the two women, the TikToker wags her finger at him, seemingly signaling that his behavior is inappropriate. The man then walks away, leaving the pair alone.

Viewers Urge Women to Stay Alert

The video quickly sparked debate on TikTok, where many viewers were frustrated by comments defending the man’s behavior. One highly liked comment read, “WHY. ARE. WE. DEFENDING. THIS. MAN.” Another user replied, “They should film it to report to police and make others aware I’m sure they probably did then drive away.“

Others argued that the women should not have been expected to leave simply because a stranger approached their vehicle. “We literally can’t even sit in our OWN cars without getting harassed….” one person wrote, while another added, “They shouldnt have to drive off. They should be able to sit in their car without fear of being hurt.” A third commenter simply described the man’s behavior as, “Bro kinda [expletive] weird.“

Several commenters also shared how they would have reacted in the same situation. “I’d be honking my horn and causing a scene. Y’all are too nice to these weird strangers with bad intentions,” one viewer wrote. Another criticized those telling the women to simply leave, commenting, “‘just drive away’ is the equivalent to saying ‘what were you wearing’.“
