He went too far

A police officer from Haines City, Florida, has recently been accused of using Flock cameras 717 times to track the vehicle of his estranged wife. The incident sparked a strong reaction on social media, as many Florida residents were appalled by the case and complained about Flock cameras in the state.

As reported by WTSP, Officer Christopher Goodson was arrested and charged with official misconduct, as well as other offenses, for using Flock cameras to spy on his wife. He did so between September 2024 and June 2026, using his wife’s license plate number to discover where she went 717 times.

The officer reportedly listed false allegations as reasons for searching the vehicle, including criminal motor vehicle offenses, assault/battery offenses, and drugs/narcotics. His wife was not involved in any crime, however.

The case became public after the wife told Goodson that she was talking to journalists about the case. He then went to his superior and reportedly confessed.

Floridians React to Police Officer Who Stalked Wife

Floridians were enraged to discover that a local police officer was misusing Flock cameras, but not entirely surprised, as shown by their reactions on r/Florida. One of them wrote: “Can we just stop using these already? I mean, more than enough evidence that they are being used to stalk and intimidate people who haven’t even done anything. Why are these still legal?”

Someone else said: “Who would guess that letting the group of people who have a concerningly high percentage of domestic abusers have access to the machine that tracks anyone and everyone across the country could possibly be a bad thing?”

Others doubled down on this argument: “Who could’ve guessed the freaks who like to control and dominate their partners at home would use a device to track them down if they ever got brave enough to leave?”

One user even shared an alleged story from 20 years ago: “I had a civilian desk job at a law enforcement agency. Everyone had access to DAVID, which has images of every driver’s license photo you’ve ever had taken. The sworn officers mainly used it to look up ex-girlfriends to see if they were ‘still hot’ or to make fun of their coworker’s ‘fat ex.’”

The overall feeling was that Flock cameras were a big mistake and that they would continue to be misused: “Give the cops something they can abuse, and they will abuse it.” So, it’s likely that these controversies will continue appearing.
