A South Carolina man’s attempt to help his troublesome cow out of yet another run-in with an electric fence has gone viral after the rescue quickly turned into what sounded like a full-blown argument between the pair. The cow, Waylon, is already something of a regular on his owner Daniel’s TikTok account, where his stubborn personality has earned him plenty of fans.
The video comes by way of TikTok user daniel048225 — aka Daniel — who frequently shares clips of Waylon and his other animals with his followers. Based in South Carolina, Daniel has turned Waylon into something of a recurring character on his page over the years, with previous videos showing the cow getting into trouble, hanging out with his bovine buddies, and generally keeping his owner on his toes.
In his latest clip, Daniel is driving past the cow enclosure when he spots Waylon seemingly stuck on an electric fence. The creator points out the predicament, explaining, “See, look. It’s electric. Electric freakin’ fence,” before repeatedly beeping his horn at the animal. Waylon eventually steps away from the fence and the beeping vehicle, prompting Daniel to mutter under his breath, “Stupid thing.”
He then exits his SUV and approaches Waylon, sternly telling the cow, “Stay off that fence!” Amazingly, Waylon begins shaking his head from side to side, almost as though he’s annoyed at being told off and is arguing back with his owner. Unmoved by Waylon’s apparent protest, Daniel continues, “Stay off it! I don’t care!”
As it turns out, this apparently isn’t Waylon’s first run-in with the fence. Daniel regularly shares the cow’s antics on his TikTok account and has previously joked about Waylon getting himself into trouble around the electric fence. In the caption accompanying his latest viral clip, he explained, “I’m telling yall it’s all the time with him. Electric fence and all.”
Viewers Can’t Get Enough of Waylon’s Attitude
The hilarious exchange has proven to be a massive hit on TikTok, racking up millions of views, more than 1.7 million likes, and over 19,000 comments in little more than a day. The clip has also spilled over onto Reddit, where viewers were equally entertained by what appeared to be a full-blown argument between Daniel and Waylon.
Viewers were especially entertained by Waylon appearing to have plenty to say for himself after being scolded. “I have never seen a cow talk back!🤣” one TikTok user wrote. Another viewer was equally amused by the donkey quietly watching the disagreement unfold, joking, “Donkey’s like, ‘I told him not to’😂”
Others decided Waylon deserved the benefit of the doubt. “As Waylon’s attorney, I’m gonna need you to touch it to prove it’s electric, until then he’s innocent. 🤷🏻♀️” one person joked. Another wasn’t quite as convinced by the cow’s innocence, writing, “idk waylon kinda looks like he’ll fkn do it again.”
The unlikely argument also proved to be exactly the sort of wholesome chaos some people wanted from their feeds. “This is the material I wanna see on my 3am scroll 🤌🏼🤣,” another TikTok user remarked.
By the time the clip reached Reddit, viewers were finding the interaction surprisingly relatable. “This is how I talk to my cats and they also dgaf,” one commenter admitted. Another couldn’t resist an appropriately bovine pun, joking, “So the cow has a beef with the man about the fence.”
Thankfully, Waylon appeared to emerge from his latest encounter with the electric fence just fine, even if he wasn’t particularly happy about being told off afterward. Judging by Daniel’s previous videos, though, this probably won’t be the last time the stubborn cow keeps his owner on his toes — and his growing army of fans will no doubt be waiting for the next chapter.
