The incident occurred as anti-ICE protesters gathered outside the DTLA Metropolitan Detention Center. While standing outside the facility, they spotted an ICE agent driving a vehicle out of the detention center. The sight prompted protesters to run toward the car and begin filming the agent.
“Where you going, [expletive]?” the protester filming yelled at the agent. As the protester approached the car, he shouted again, saying, “Slow the [expletive] down, [expletive].” He then filmed the back of the vehicle, where two young children were visible inside.
“Who do you have in the back?” the protester asked as he filmed the children. He then ran after the vehicle as the agent drove away, repeatedly saying, “Two kids. Two kids. Two kids,” in disbelief. The video ended with the protester stopping his pursuit. Its caption read, “ICE in DTLA Metropolitan Detention Center seen with 2 little boys in the back. 10pm on 10-23-2026.”
The sight of the two children prompted online speculation that they were immigrants detained by ICE and being transported to another location. Their presence in the vehicle raised concerns about their safety, with people questioning why young children were being transported by immigration agents at around 10 p.m. The possibility that they were detained immigrants also fueled criticism of the agency, particularly over the impact of immigration enforcement on young children.
