Capcom has revealed during Gamescom 2018 that Devil May Cry 5 will be launching on March 8, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The developers behind the legendary hack-and-slash series unveiled the date with a new trailer that showcases some of the new tricks that Nero has up his sleeve. You can watch the trailer below:

Devil May Cry 5 - Gamescom 2018 Trailer | PS4

The gameplay of Devil May Cry 5 looks to be true to the series’ stylish format and sees Nero sporting a robotic arm for reasons unknown at this point. The arm comes off and on thanks to a new mechanic that has you building up a meter by bridging together combos and then unleashing a giant blast that ends up destroying Nero’s arm. The game world is littered with arms so fret not, the damage isn’t permanent; it does, however, provide great amusement to see Nero running around with a metallic stump.

Capcom seems to have taken the best parts of the series’ components and mashed them all together, and yes, that even includes parts of the series’ black sheep installment, DmC: Devil May Cry. The combat’s fluidity appears to be inspired by Ninja Theory’s game as does the environments surrounding Nero and friends. The world has a tinge of neon in it, and Nero seems to be sporting an attitude that’s ripped straight from DmC.

Similar to the Devil May Cry 5 trailer from E3, Dante is glimpsed at the end, however, we are given just a few more hints as to how he will play in the game. Making a grand entrance on his motorcycle, Dante makes an alarmingly quick transition into battle as his motorcycle splits apart and is used as a dual-wielding weapon, making short and bloody work of the enemies surrounding him.

Devil May Cry 5 is taking the best parts of the series and refining them to a ‘T’ to really give fans the polished experience they have been waiting the better part of a decade for.
