A Missouri man accused his former roommate of leaving their shared apartment in disarray and taking approximately $1,000 worth of his belongings when she moved out. He also raised concerns about his prescription medication and said he planned to file a police report over the missing property.
The incident was shared on TikTok by the man, who goes by patrickages, where he showed the apartment’s condition after his former roommate left. The video caused viewers to offer advice on pursuing legal action and share their own experiences with difficult roommate situations.
In the video, the Missouri man walks through the apartment and points out what he claims his ex-roommate took. The living room television he had paid for was missing, along with household supplies that had filled shelves, including laundry products, paper towels, and cleaning products. He also mentioned a cordless vacuum worth about $100 and another missing purchase worth $200.
The condition of the apartment added to his frustration. He showed his former roommate’s bedroom, bathroom, and closet, criticizing the mess she had left behind and noting that he would have to clean up after her. During the walkthrough, he also found one of his prescription bottles and alleged that his controlled substances had been accessed.
The man said he had changed the apartment’s door code and intended to file a police report over the missing property. However, the video did not establish whether a report had been filed or whether authorities had investigated the allegations.
Missouri Man Urged to Take His Roommate to Court
Commenters largely sided with the man, encouraging him to document the missing belongings and pursue legal action. One user urged him to gather receipts, photograph the damage, report the alleged theft, and visit the courthouse on Monday.
Others expressed sympathy, with some sharing their own experiences of being robbed by former roommates. One commenter described having similar problems more than once and explained that high rent made sharing a home necessary despite the risks. Another recounted an experience in which police did not recover their property, adding that going to court might be necessary to seek compensation.
Several viewers also questioned why the man’s prescription bottle had ended up among the belongings involved in the incident. Others viewed the situation as a betrayal, particularly if the former roommates had previously been friends.
For the Missouri man, the dispute appears far from over. With the door code changed and a police report planned, his next step may be to determine whether he can recover the belongings he claims are missing.
