An Alaska woman was about to go outside when a noise led her to an unexpected furry visitor in her yard. Viewers struggled to identify the animal, comparing it to everything from a donkey to a hippo. Meanwhile, those who thought it was a young moose were more concerned about where its mother might be.
Posted to TikTok by @shadancalan, the clip appears to show the yard from a back deck at night. A dark shape sits near the corner of the house, making it hard to tell what’s there. The camera moves closer, revealing a brown animal with its head down near the grass.
In the caption, the creator explains she was getting ready to let her dog out to pee. That’s when they heard what they thought was a cat. One look at the backyard told them otherwise.
TikTok Couldn’t Agree on What it Was
Viewers had a hard time figuring out what they were looking at. “I thought it was DONKEY FROM SHREK,” one wrote. Another said they came to the comments for the answer, even pulling the screen in closer without being able to decide. “So what is it? A donkey, a horse, a moose???” someone asked. A different user offered up “A doorse.”
The guesses kept coming. Some viewers saw a capybara, a hippo, or a kangaroo, while another asked if it was Alf, back again.
For those calling it a baby moose, the concern was where its mother might be. “Be careful!! Momma moose cannot be far!!!” a viewer said. Others told the Alaska creator to keep her dog inside. Another cautioned against going near it, since a nearby mother is much bigger and will hurt people.
A few people weren’t surprised it had made it past the fence. “They can easily jump over even an 8 ft fence,” a commenter said. Another joked that, with legs that long, it probably just tiptoed over.
Viewers had plenty of laughs guessing what was in that Alaskan backyard. Apparently, to a lot of commenters, a young moose looks like just about everything but a moose.
