A woman who voted for Donald Trump twice says attending a Georgia rally featuring former President Barack Obama forced her to rethink her assumptions about Democrats. In an emotional video, she reads from a journal entry about the experience, reflecting on the people she once judged and the policies she now believes made their lives harder.
The rally took place on October 28, 2026, in Morrow, Georgia, where Obama campaigned for Democratic Senate candidate Jon Ossoff and gubernatorial nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms ahead of the November 3 midterms.
The video was shared on TikTok by @thisiscarterbrown. The woman says she drove to the event in silence and returned home the same way. Once home, she wrote down her thoughts and decided to read them aloud because she wanted to process the experience without losing control of her emotions.
She admitted she had never attended a Trump rally and could not compare the two experiences. But standing among thousands of people she once believed had been misled made her question how she had viewed them.
“I kept looking around and thinking, how could I have been so wrong about these people?” she read from her journal.
She described the crowd as people trying to provide for their families, raise children, access health care, and live without being judged for who they are. She said she was struck by the warmth and hope she saw, even among people who had reasons to feel defeated.
The experience also brought grief. She said she was thinking about the years she had spent judging people whose stories she had never taken the time to hear, as well as the possibility that she had supported politicians and policies that made their lives harder.
“I was so focused on defending the people in power that I wasn’t listening to the people living with the consequences,” she wrote.
She then stepped away from her journal to say that people who supported the current administration should be willing to sit with the consequences of what they had backed.
The woman also reflected on how her religious beliefs had shaped her political thinking. She said she had believed she was supporting God’s plan, but that belief had kept her from questioning whose interests were actually being served.
Internet Reacts to Two-Time Trump Voter’s Change of Heart After Georgia Rally
The video drew a mix of encouragement and criticism. One commenter wrote, “Proud of you!! PLEASE reach out to those around you who blindly follow Trump and this administration. We have to come together.” Another was less forgiving: “A little too late… the damage is done.”
Someone else praised her honesty, writing, “This took a lot of courage, I give you a lot of credit for that.” Another commenter added, “Wow! I’m so glad you decided to go and even more that you’ve seen the light.”
One person encouraged her to take the next step: “Appreciate you educating and being open. Now we need you to do just this. Spread the word and help us try to fix this.”
Not everyone was interested in reconciliation. One commenter wrote, “I will…NEVER, unite with, befriend, trust, or forgive a trump voter!!!” Another pushed back on her description of Trump supporters as misled, saying, “Blindly? It was an open-book test.”
Her video offers a personal account of that change, while leaving viewers to decide what they make of her reflection.
