A heated confrontation at a bar in Tennessee is gaining attention after one of the bar patrons posted the interaction on TikTok.
Posted by TikTok user Heyitstwig, Twig uploaded several videos of a “crazy drunk Karen” who was refusing to leave the bar after allegedly “harassing” the bartenders there.
In Twig’s videos, the “Karen” is heard calling Twig an “idiot” for not knowing Rolling Stone’s “Gimme Shelter.” She even starts singing along. According to Twig, this was at the same the lady had “approached” her twice before, despite being told to give Twig space.
In a second video, the patron is then heard being condescending towards Twig and using therapy speech on her. She insists that she feels “fear” and “sadness” and loneliness coming from Twig.
In Twig’s original video, and the one that caused people online to turn on her, was of Twig being confrontational towards the bar patron. She reiterates to her that she was asked to leave the bar. Twig says the lady was “embarassing” herself.
“Are you stupid or are you slow?” Twig asks. Meanwhile, the woman at the bar is rather calm. Twig continues berating the lady, asking if she needs to be “physically removed” from the bar. According to Twig, the police were called, which was confirmed by a bartender in her video.
How people online are reacting to Twig’s TikTok videos
Despite several videos posted on the encounter, Twig received a lot of hate on her TikTok videos, even as she posted more context. Although many users didn’t excuse the lady’s obnoxious behavior, the same people felt Twig had taken it way too far with the insults. “This was hard to watch,” TikTok user Natasha admitted.
On the original video, many posted their own insults targeted at Twig, calling her a “garbage human being,” that her video makes her look bad, and also calling her behavior “disgusting” and “extremely rude.”
Some viewers took to Twig’s third TikTok video, which added more context to the argument, and admitted Twig was “justified.” One viewer, who was initially against Twig, wrote, “All right I change my mind.”
“YOU are out of order the way you dealt with the situation,” wrote TikTok user Michelle and insisted it didn’t matter how many videos Twig posted for context. “You’re not getting it – it was the degrading way you chose to speak to her that everyone noticed,” wrote another.
People are bars do get pretty rowdy sometimes, so that’s to be expected but not necessarily excused. But given the context of the video and the response, viewers online were adamant Twig had pushed the issue too far, especially with the insults.
