Sometimes, life miraculously finds a way, and people get what’s coming to them, which is what happened to an alleged snobby customer in Utah. Reddit user Big-gay-aha says they work with their aunt in vehicle emissions and registration renewals, and one older male customer became hostile over a particular situation. Big Gay says the man didn’t want his renewal done but handed in his renewal reminder postcard anyway. So, OP shredded the postcard, only to realize this man really, really wanted it back.
“Once the emission test is done, he left without retrieving his renewal postcard, and procedure is to shred it and throw it away because it has personal information on it,” Big Gay explained. After the customer returned and demanded it back, OP explained why they had the paper shredded. “Old man proceeded to SCREAM at me in front of an office full of customers, and he called the police on me,” Big Gay recalled stressfully.
The Elderly Customer Was Allegedly Accused of Trepassing
In an ironic turn of events, the four officers who arrived at the scene ended up charging the older customer with trespassing, which Reddit found hilarious. “Sounds like he called the police for you,” a commenter remarked. “Lol he called the police AND got trespassed?” laughed another. “Elderly people are weirdly attached to paper, especially forms and notices,” sighed a third.
Several more people chimed in, praising OP for standing up for themself, but Big Gay wasn’t exactly elated, even though the older customer got kicked out. “It was quite amusing but also terrible,” they wrote, adding that this situation caused them to have a panic attack. That’s why, in the post’s photo, they are sitting in the grass outside; they’re trying to catch their breath after being screamed at.
“It’s a great job; I am just sooooo tired of being screamed at, almost run over because of stupid people, and rolling around on the ground,” OP explained. “This fella that called the police on me was a rich snobby guy from a rich neighborhood. We’ve dealt with him before and we are well aware he thinks we are the scum of the earth,” they added.
Unfortunately for the customer, he ended up being the one who was allegedly humbled this time around. Even though Reddit users found the situation comically ironic, OP’s mental health took a toll, making them loathe their job even more than they already do. “Kinda my final straw at this job that I hate,” Big Gay concluded.
