While the recent passing of Marvel legend Stan Lee has caused much sadness amongst fans, his legacy has inspired a certain group of fans in their artwork.

Indeed, a mural created in tribute to the famous comics writer has appeared in Los Angeles.

It was designed by the group SopitaGvng, who shared their work on Instagram in the form of two videos. The clips show the group of talented artists spraypaint a large picture of Stan Lee and two of his most famous creations, Spider-Man, and Doctor Doom, on a wall. According to the Instagram post, the location is on 48th Street and St. Andrews behind Obama middle school.

Among the artists who worked on the Stan Lee mural were Levi Ponce, Tetriswai, Mike Rivera, Red Ortiz, and boomallday. Each had a part to play in the creation of the tribute. They considered the man a childhood hero.

Stan Lee, born Stanley Martin Leiber, died on November 12th, 2018. The former editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, Lee was responsible for creating a wide variety of enduring superheroes including Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and the Fantastic Four. He famously worked alongside such legendary comic book artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko.

Lee camoed in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Kevin Feige President of Marvel Studios, recently penned a heartwarming tribute to the comics legend for Entertainment Weekly. He cited Lee’s sense of humor – when Fiege visited him at his house once, Lee joked, “‘I know you want me to star in the next movie, but I have to just stick to the cameos. You’ll have to leave the starring roles to the other actors. I’m sorry.”

Fiege also recalled how Stan Lee “would show up to the movie sets game for anything” and would ask for more lines. However, there was one reason Feige wouldn’t respond to that request – “God forbid he would start to overshadow the hero. That was something a character like Stan Lee could easily do.”
