Marvel Comics recently revealed that they are digitally distributing certain issues of the comic book series Black Panther to celebrate Black History Month. This was announced via Twitter:

Long live the king! Use redeem code 'FOREVER' at https://t.co/qgW4EpKBlb to get a FREE digital bundle of five #BlackPanther comics and celebrate Wakanda Forever all month long. https://t.co/2gXkrpswTj account required to redeem. pic.twitter.com/9DKSscB7lC

As seen in the tweet, the official code for these comics is “forever”. The free comics included are Black Panther Vol. 4 #1, Black Panther Vol. 7 #1, Shuri Vol. 1 #1, Black Panther: World of Wakanda Vol. 1 #1, and Black Panther Prelude.

Going to the box-office, Black Panther has sold about $700 million domestically and made about $1.3 billion worldwide. It has gone on to be one of the first superhero movies to be nominated for an academy award and is currently the ninth highest-grossing movie of all time. It is certainly one of the most successful films Marvel has ever made.

While talking to Oprah Winfrey, Michael B. Jordan (who played Killmonger in the movie) spoke about how the film affected him:

“I went to therapy, I started talking to people, started unpacking a little bit. I was by myself, isolating myself,”

“I spent a lot of time alone. I figured Erik, his childhood growing up was lonely. He didn’t have a lot of people he could talk to about this place called Wakanda that didn’t exist.”

Jordan continued:

“It was a little tough for me at first. Readjusting to people caring about me, getting that love that I shut out. I shut out love, I didn’t want love.

“I wanted to be in this lonely place as long as I could. Your mind is so powerful. Your mind will get your body past a threshold that it would have given up on way before. Honestly, therapy, just talking to somebody just helped me out a lot. As a man, you get a lot of slack for it, I don’t really subscribe to that. Everyone needs to unpack and talk.”

A sequel is in the works at Marvel Studios and Jordan is rumored to reprise his role.

Are you gonna pick up one of these free comics? Have you read any of them? Let us know in the comments below!
