Anthem only released on February 22nd and itโs not doing so well. Bioware’s looting shooter, or looty shooty as I like to call these games, was hyped up quite a lot before release. Unfortunately, it released to mixed reviews from critics and players alike and like many games these days, Anthem released with many, many bugs.
I do hate the way games come out nowadays, they hit gold in an unfinished state and then rely on updates to make them feel polished, or in some cases even playable. I mean, I am grateful that developers support games after release, I just wish we werenโt in the age of huge day one updates and had things a little more finished when they go on sale.
Anyway, Iโm getting off topic and having a moan. Anthem though does seem to have more problems than most games. In fact, the PlayStation 4 version is so bad players have reported that the game crashes the console, which in turn forces it to reset and repair itself. Some are worried the issues may cause irreparable damage to the PS4 system.
Iโm not surprised that players are worried. I still remember the bug in Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 that was corrupting the game save. There were reports that the issue was even bricking PS3 systems at the time. I was 14 hours into the game when I read about these issues. We canโt say that Bioware doesnโt have form for these kinds of things.
According to a thread on Reddit PS4 users are able to request a refund from Sony, no questions asked. Many people are choosing to receive a refund and try the game again when itโs been fixed. Sony is certainly taking notice of the issues, despite having nothing to do with the game themselves, itโs a good move on their part to issue refunds to disgruntled gamers.
