This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information.

Neil Druckmann, the Vice President and Creative Director of Naughty Dog, tweeted out that the final cinematic has been filmed for Joel and Ellie’s scenes in The Last of Us Part II. The tweet features a photo of Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson in their full motion capture outfits. The two play Joel and Ellie, respectively.

The last trailer we saw for the game was from E3 2018. We saw an older Ellie in a slower, more peaceful moment in her life until a jarring shift occurred and we were put right into a gameplay demo for The Last of Us Part II. The first Last of Us was more centered around Joel and his story. This time around, Ellie is going to be our primary, and only, playable character in the game.

… and we've wrapped all of the planned cinematic shoots today for The Last of Us Part II!

We still have work ahead of us, including putting these cinematics in the game, but this is a nice little milestone.

Congrats to all on stage today, and to the entire cast and crew!! https://t.co/HZAYIUnMkc

The images are showing the end of the motion capturing for the two main characters but that doesn’t mean the game is anywhere near ready to come out. The capturing of the movements for these characters is one thing but everything that needs to happen in post-production is another.

For now, we know that the movements are done for Ellie and Joel. Druckmann also revealed that the final cinematic for the game has also been shot as well.

Hopefully, we will see some trailers showing some of these amazing graphics and story in the coming months. With Sony skipping E3 this year, it’s anyone’s guess on when Naughty Dog and those at Sony show us more.

However, once there is more to show, we will let you know. Are you excited for The Last of Us Part II? How do you want Joel and Ellie’s story to end? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to stay tuned to The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
