How To Get Fishing Spears & Rods in Brighter Shores
If you want to start fishing in Brighter Shores, you will need to grab your first fishing spear at Mely’s Fishing Supplies. You can find this building on the eastern side of the Town Square. Just head south from the Training Ground, and you will find an area with a large fountain.
The gear will cost you 12 Silver coins. You should have enough money from the suspicious merchant during the tutorial if you haven’t purchased other items. However, you can get more money by opening treasure chests or selling foraged items.
The only fish you can catch at this level is Mottled Flounders, which you can find in the East Beach. You can reach this area by heading south from the Town Square and then walking west. When you reach the Sea Road, you can go south to reach the beach.
All Fish Locations
Whenever you enter a new area, it’s best to always click on undiscovered objects and examine them so they’ll be added to your map. This will help you keep track of where you can find each fish as you upgrade your fishing skills in Brighter Shores.
Note that the fish name will change as you level up. For instance, Mottled Flounder will become Flounder when you reach Level 6, but their location is still the same. So, just ignore the adjective and follow the map for reference.

How To Use Bait
Once you have obtained a fishing rod in Brighter Shores, you can start making bait. There are six primary bait types that you can craft, but each one has several versions. The more ingredients you use, the better result you will get.

How To Use & Sell Fish
As you upgrade your fishing skills in Brighter Shores, you will accumulate a ridiculous amount of fish. While you can dump the fish back, that would be a waste. There are two ways you can use your fish.
The easiest method is to sell all of your catch to the Fishmonger at Eel Street. Just head south after reaching the Town Square. He will accept all the fish you have caught, and you can get some money.
Another way is to use those fish for cooking. You can’t use all of them, though, and I suggest depositing all the fish in the Ingredients Bank to easily sort the fish you can cook. Just head to the Delectable Dab Kitchen on the other side of the Apothecary.
