Miss the Saints Row series? Well I’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is Saints Row developer Volition has moved onto a new I.P, Agents of Mayhem. The good news, it looks to carry on the Saints Row series both in spirit and story. Volition announced last year at E3 that their next game would be Agents of Mayhem, a violent and comical combination of Saints Row, Crackdown and Overwatch. And they’ve just shared with us, that you’ll be able to get your hands on this intriguing title on August 15th in the US and August 18th in Europe.
This open world action game set in the Saints Row universe carry’s on where the series left off. In Saints Row: Gat out of Hell you can choose several endings, one of which restores Earth to its former glory. After choosing this canonical ending we are shot forward to the year 2017 where terrorist hunting organisation M.A.Y.H.E.M. (Multinational Agency Hunting Evil Masterminds) is endeavouring to stop L.E.G.I.O.N. (the League of Evil Gentlemen Intent on Obliterating Nations), from conquering the world. Set in a futuristic version of Seoul, South Korea, you as the player, gain the opportunity to take on L.E.G.I.O.N. as any one of up to 12 M.A.Y.H.E.M. operatives. The game continues Saints Rows colourful art style, radical story and borderline unacceptable humour. But adds elements of Crackdown and Overwatch through its fast paced third person shooter combat and focus on different hero-type characters.
Agents of Mayhem isn’t the only game to recently receive a release date. We have also learned in recent weeks that Destiny 2 will release on September 8th, Middle Earth: Shadow of War will release on August 22nd and 25th respectively and What Remains of Edith Finch will release on April 25th.
