A bride in Alabama decided she would walk herself down the aisle to meet her now-husband in front of her loved ones. Minutes before this emotional moment, her father was kicked out of the venue. She didn’t seem to mind that at all, as she went on to have a wonderful ceremony.

KyLee Laird, the bride in question, shared the emotional moment on TikTok. She often shares family and lifestyle content online, featuring her husband, Austin, and their son. The clip attached above became her biggest one yet in a matter of days. It garnered 1.9 million views, 160,300 likes, and more than 1,300 comments.

The Alabama woman, as shown in the clip, was walking down the aisle at a local church. She wore a traditional white dress with no veil and was carrying a bridal bouquet. Guests at the wedding could be seen becoming emotional upon watching such a scene, as KyLee was on her own. After handing over the bouquet to one of her bridesmaids, KyLee joined Austin on the altar.

“A drag path, but it’s me walking myself down the aisle 10 mins after my dad was kicked out,” the now-married woman captioned.

Much Needed Context

After the clip went viral and many requested some context, KyLee sat down in front of a camera and explained what had occurred. She detailed that she wanted her wedding to be as stress-free as possible, as she gets stress-induced seizures. That’s when her father entered the equation, with whom she had never had a “very good relationship.”

The Alabama woman was set on walking herself down the aisle as a display of independence. However, as her bridal pictures were being taken, trouble began.

“Someone tells me that my dad is going around and telling people he didn’t know why the [expletive] he was here if he wasn’t the one walking me down the aisle,” KyLee said.

Immediately, KyLee told her mother and other people to tell him to leave the church for good. Minutes before walking down the aisle, she said that her father cussed her out via text messages.

“He just didn’t know how to act or how not to make something about himself,” she said. She complemented this by writing in the original clip, “I never believed the whole ‘you’ll see who your real family is when wedding planning/at your wedding’ until it happened to me.”

Reactions

Many viewers reacted to KyLee’s story by applauding her courage. One said, “Break the cycle. That’s the best thing you could do.” Another one commented, “You don’t need a man to ‘give you away’ anyway.”

Others chose to criticize the Alabama woman’s father and his behavior. One wrote, “Some people shouldn’t be parents. I’m sorry that happened to you.” Another one added, “Having had family ruin many big moments, I really do feel for you.”

KyLee detailed in the comments that she could’ve added more to her story. She, however, decided not to, for the sake of her child.
