This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Ghosts from an abandoned house in Monstro Town will give you the quest Musty Fears, the essence to find 3 hidden flags. We are going to show you the locations of all the Musty Fears Flags in Super Mario RPG. They are invisible, which makes the search process much more complicated. Even though the ghosts have given hints about the location of the flags, it can still be difficult, so we are here to help.

Super Mario RPG: Where to Find All Musty Fears Flag

You will receive this quest from 3 friendly ghosts: Greaper, Boo, and Dry Bones. No one tells you exactly where to look, but instead, each of the ghosts will give you a hint as to the location of the flag they have hidden. To win this hide-and-seek game, you’ll need to follow them to gain an advantage. Here’s what all the hints sound like:

  • Greaper: My flag is behind a wooden flower.
  • Boo: My flag is between “O” and “A”.
  • Dry Bones: My flag is underneath a green bed.

Let’s talk about each of them in more detail.

According to Greaper’s words, the flag is behind a wooden flower. At first, this may confuse you because you hardly remember anything like this but don’t jump straight to conclusions. There is indeed a wooden flower in the heart of Rose Town. Go to this location, and you will see a wooden flower with the word “Welcome” written on it. Go around the back of it and you will see an interaction button. Interact with it to get the first flag.

Boo’s Flag

The hint on the location of Boo’s flag is even more vague, but still, if you look carefully, you can spot the necessary place. The location you need to explore is Yo’ster Isle. This is an optional area of the game, so if you haven’t been there yet, use the Pipe Vault to visit it. The flag you are looking for is at the end of the race track, on the word “GOAL.” As mentioned in the hint, you need to look between the “O” and the “A,” so get closer to the word to interact with the invisible flag. Once you do that and pick it up, you can move on.

Dry Bones’ Flag

The last and probably the easiest to find flag is in Mario’s house. The hint mentions a green bed, which is exactly what Mario’s Pad has, so go there to get the flag. No matter which side of the bed you approach, as soon as the interactive button appears, press it and the last flag will be in your hands.

That’s it. Now that the Musty Fears flags in Super Mario RPG have been found, you can return to Monstro Town and visit the abandoned house again to get the reward. For your efforts, the ghosts will give you a Ghost Medal, which halves the damage you take in battles.
