All Artifact Piece Locations in Sons of the Forest

Artifact pieces are nothing new in Sons of the Forest, but the amount of pieces with their locations increases with different patches. Well, thanks to Update 1.0, we have more pieces to discover. Once you collect them all, you can activate the Artifact. You can only fully activate it after beating the game since one piece is only found post-game. So, let’s gather our gear and set out on an Artifact hunt.

Artifact Locations in Sons of the Forest

Sons of the Forest features six Artifact pieces scattered throughout five cave locations, one of which is the base of the Artifact itself:

• Cave A
• Cave B
• Cave D (2 pieces)
• Cave F
• Cave G

You’ll know you’ve stumbled upon an Artifact as these metallic pieces usually have “???” for a description. As you gather pieces, they’re added to your inventory. Once you have them all, you can select them and the Artifact will come together. But first, we have to find them.

Cave A Artifact Piece (Rebreather Cave)

Not too far from the helicopter crash in Sons of the Forest is this Artifact piece, and it’s found near the end of the Cave. Once you enter, at the first fork in the road, turn right into the gap and start your journey.

Next up, take the following steps:

1. Reach another fork in the road with a corpse sitting in the middle
2. Take the left route
3. Break the boarded-up area on the left and descend the rope

We’re getting closer to this Sons of the Forest Artifact piece. Turn left and crouch past the hanging crosses. At the skeletons, turn left, break the barricade, make another left, and find the Artifact piece not too far away.

Cave B Artifact Piece

The Sons of the Forest Artifact is far faster to find than the one in Cave A. It’s located in Cave B, the Ropegun Cave, near the River spawn point:

1. Cut down the wooden barricade and enter the Cave until you reach a large area
2. Turn right toward the cliff-like area
3. Take a rope down to the water and turn right to briefly swim underwater

Now, once you emerge, you’ll only go a few steps before you must dive into the water again. Once you swim through, resurface and break the next set of wooden boards. From here on, it’s a straightforward shot to finding the Artifact.

Cave D – Sons of the Forest Artifact Piece 1

Cave D is a beast to explore, but worth it. That’s why the location is home to two Sons of the Forest Artifact pieces. The first one is at the Lake Cave entrance. For the first section, follow this path:

1. Enter through the narrow gap and you’ll soon reach a boulder separating two passages
2. Take the right path and you’ll notice a skeleton relaxing on a chair
3. To the left is the water area you’ll dive into

The swim section is long, so be sure the air tank is ready for it. Now we can continue onward:

1. Once you resurface, head forward until you climb the slight slope and see an area with solafite growing on the wall
2. There are some monsters and soon another branching path you’ll want to go left from
3. You’ll see yet another path choice, so take a left again

Now, break the barricades, and once through the corridor, turn left. Use a small rock to jump to the top of the wall and down the path is another Artifact piece.

Cave D – Sons of the Forest Artifact Piece 2

Next up is the other side of Cave D, the Ancient Armor entrance:

1. Head inside and keep right
2. Ascend the slight incline and drop down to go through the small crevice

In the new area, don’t go up. Instead, take the steps below:

1. Stay right until you see more wooden boards on the ground that you can walk up
2. Follow the “light” until you reach the solafite far off in the distance
3. The trail leads to another underwater section

To get closer to our next Sons of the Forest Artifact piece, we must emerge and follow the stone path. Head to the solafite in the distance, go left, and briefly swim. Out of the water, find a rope that you can climb up.

Still with us? Good because we still have some more work to do for this Artifact piece:

1. Journey through the corridor until you get to the branching section where you’ll go right
2. Eventually, you’ll encounter breakable wooden boards, and you’ll slide down a slope
3. In the open area, go to the solafite light and turn left
4. Climb another incline and go right

You should reach an underwater area and resurface once, see a dead end, and dive again. There’s a branching path underwater, so simply go left and resurface to more solafite. Go right and you’ll see the lightning room. The Artifact is in the hands of the skeleton inside the vehicle. Enter from the back, break the wooden boards, and you’ll find it.

Cave F Artifact Piece

The Cave F Artifact piece is at the climbing entrance Cave in Sons of the Forest. Once you get down, you can begin your adventure to find another piece of the puzzle. When you descend, head down the path and turn right at the boulder.

Follow the water until you can dive under. It’s a long section, but there’s only one real way to go before you resurface. Once you do, follow this path:

1. Turn around from where you resurface and take the narrow path
2. Break the wooden barricade, descend the rope, and take the long journey through the Cave

Go until you have to crouch. Emerging in the new area, jump up the platform and follow the hanging crosses. Go down the rope and follow the path up to the Artifact piece.

Cave G Artifact Piece

Finally, we’re at the Ground Cave entrance for our last Artifact piece in Sons of the Forest. At the location, break the wooden boards so you can go downstairs. The room is creepy, no doubt. Don’t forget to grab the paper by the skeleton that has a picture of the Artifact in question. Break the barricade next to that skeleton and enter the cave via the rope.

Once you get out of the water, turn around and head through the opening that features several inclines. Just keep following the path, breaking barricades along the way, until you get to another rope to go down. You’ll see an eerie, yet cool, scene of a handful of skeletons near the Artifact piece.

Spoiler Artifact Piece Location

There is one final place you must check to rebuild the Artifact in Sons of the Forest, and it takes place post-game. It still has six pieces because one of the things you find in the cave is not technically a piece. It’s the base. So, the sixth piece is down in the dangerous laser cave. Just don’t get too close, and you should get it with no problems.
