The new Stardew Valley 1.6 Update is more eventful than ever because it added around three new festivals (two small ones, and a big one). These are events in which you can participate and they run for specific seasons and days. If you’re looking to spend some rest and recreation in-game after a hard day of back-breaking labor at the farm, check out the following new festivals in Stardew Valley and the details we have for them.
Desert Festival
To get to this event, you need to catch the town bus (starts at 10 AM) to the Calico Desert. This 3-day event is available from Spring 15th to Spring 17th.
The main event would be the Desert races where each win will reward you with 20 Calico Eggs. You can also cheat by sabotaging other race competitors via the Suspicious Man near the Oasis building (at the cost of one Calico Egg).
Once you have enough Calico Eggs, head to the Calico Egg Merchant or the other Festival’s merchants to purchase items. We recommend prioritizing the Calico Egg Merchant’s stock:
- Mystery Box: 20 Calico Eggs
- Mummy Mask: 120 Calico Eggs
- Blue Bow: 50 Calico Eggs
- Dark Velvet Bow: 75 Calico Eggs
- Mega Bomb: 15 Calico Eggs
- Mixed Seeds: 5 Calico Eggs
- Eggplant Parmesan: 10 Calico Eggs
- Desert Table: 25 Calico Eggs
- Desert Chair: 20 Calico Eggs
- Decorative Barrel: 10 Calico Eggs
- Woodcutter’s Weekly: 100 Calico Eggs
Apart from the race, you can also head over to the Skull Cavern for a quest that rewards Calico Eggs.
Trout Derby
Trout Derby occurs in Cindersnap Forest (southwest part of the map). This event is only available from Summer 20th to Summer 21st.
The goal is to catch Rainbow Trout for a chance to get the Golden Tag. If you catch a Golden Tag, you can turn it in for the following prizes:
- Tent Kit
- Bucket Bucket Hat
- Crab Pot
- Mystery Box x3
- Diamond
- Mounted Trout
- Deluxe Bait x20
- Triple Shot Espresso x2
- Quality Sprinkler (1)
- Warp Totem: Farm (1)
- Omni Geode x3
SquidFest
SquidFest is the winter event and it lasts from Winter 12th to Winter 13th. It’s similar to Trout Derby, except you’ll be catching Squid.
You’ll then use the Squid as currency to purchase the following items and rewards:
