It’s been a while since we’ve been waiting for the glorious return of the Double Tap Root Beer original perk in Call of Duty Zombies and seems like Black Ops 6 is going to offer us the honor with the upcoming updates. Now this isn’t a leak or rumor, but some sort of ad for Black Ops 6 Zombies itself that’s teasing the Double Tap drink, which might mean that we’re going to see it as soon as Citadelle des Morts launches? Let’s dig in.
Now before I start, it’s worth the mention that the last time we saw a practical version of Double Tap Root Beer was in Black Ops 3 Zombies. The rest are only references and easter eggs like the one in Black Ops Cold War Die Maschine map which was rumored to feature the Double Tap perk but it was cut from the game for some reason.
However, we never had any specific ads showcasing the Double Tap Root Beer for Black Ops 4, Cold War, or even Vanguard and MW3 Zombies. And to everyone’s surprise, it is the case with Black Ops 6, as the Otaku online shop has been advertising the Double Tap Root Beer lamps as part of the game’s items!

As the name suggests, Double Tap Root Beer is a Perk-A-Cola that allows your weapon to have 2x the fire rate, which is an insane addition to the game. We had this perk back in World At War Zombies, and then it was featured in Black Ops games up to BO3. But does this ad mean that we’re going to see Double Tap Root Beer original Zombies perk return in Black Ops 6?
With only a few days left until the Citadelle des Morts Zombies map launch, many believe that this update is the time when Treyarch adds the OG perk to the game. But what I think is different. Right now we already have an attachment that increases the fire rate in Black Ops 6 gunsmith, and Double Tap Root Beer perk could become so overpowered with the current Zombies situation.
So if Double Tap Root Beer is going to join BO6 in the upcoming updates, it’s either going to be less effective, or maybe the zombies in Citedalle des Morts are just more powerful. Or, it could be that Treyarch just drops this perk into every map and lets us enjoy slaughtering zombies with double the power? That’d be awesome!
