In 2017, fans said goodbye to the characters of Critical Role’s Vox Machina. One year to the day, the live Dungeons and Dragons show that spawned thousands of fans, wrapped up their first campaign with the episode The Chapter Closes. The emotional ending brought a community even closer together. Their love for the Twitch streamed game and the nerdy voice actors behind the characters is shown daily on social media. The fandom took to the internet and rolled a natural 20 to hit the cast right in the feels with the hashtag thanks Vox Machina.

A special message from @VoiceOfOBrien, @Marisha_Ray & @samriegel about your humbling and heartwarming #ThanksVoxMachina posts.

We love you all. <3 pic.twitter.com/780FaCfcdQ

Members of the show posted their response to the outpouring of love, kindness, and beautiful fan art. With more than 216,000 followers on Twitter,  the fans, or “Critters” as they are called, created art, cosplay, and wrote heartfelt responses to the cast and crew. Thanking them for three years of storytelling, community, and Dungeons and Dragons.

I DIDN'T KNOW THIS WAS HAPPENING BUT I WANT TO JOIN IN THE TEARS

I will draw something new this week, but in the meantime, I love you all so freaking much. Thank you.#ThanksVoxMachina pic.twitter.com/g9M53Foq6C

What started as a 2012 game at home between voice actors Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, Sam Riegel, Liam O’Brien, Ashley Johnson, and Taliesin Jaffe, has turned into a community full of passionate fans, artists, cosplay, and more. On October 12, 2017 live on Twitch, thousands watched the final episode of Critical Role’s first campaign, as it completed the story of Keyleth, Grog, Vex, Scanlan, Taryon Darrington, Vax, Pike, and Percival “Percy” Fredrickstein Von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III.

All of these #ThanksVoxMachina posts are really making it hard to see. All this strange water in my eyes…

It really was such a journey. I’m so happy we could share it with so many, have you all adventure with us.
