2017 has been an amazing year for anime fans. From the much awaited second season of Attack on Titan to the continued story of the beloved Deku in My Hero Academia to new animes like The Ancient Magus’ Bride, there has been plenty to keep us all busy. However, as the year draws to a close it is time to look at what we can expect in 2018, and there is so much to be excited about! Here are a few of the most anticipated sequels set to release next year.

Fairy Tail: The Final Season
Anime

Let’s get all of the tears out of the way now, Fairy Tail‘s final season will air sometime next year. With the manga ending earlier this year, we all knew this was coming but it is still hard to accept. The anime started in 2009 and has had a handful of movies and a prequel season since its start. Grab the tissues, folks, because this will be a tough one!

One Punch Man Season 2

anime

One Punch Man‘s anime adaptation released in 2015, and I’ve been dying for the second season ever since. While it is rumored that the second season will release sometime in the coming year, there was quite a bit of controversy revolving around the next season. Madhouse, the original production company, will no longer be involved with the project although the voice talent will all remain the same. Hopefully, it will be just as binge-worthy as the first season!

Attack on Titan Season 3

Speaking of much anticipated second seasons, Attack on Titan‘s third season is expected to roll out next year. After three excruciating years of waiting, we finally got our second season this year. And it was glorious! Needless to say, fans were excited to hear that they would only have to wait a year for the next season. Now here’s to hoping it doesn’t get pushed back.

My Hero Academia Season 3

Anime

My Hero Academia has quickly become one of my all time favorite animes, and how could it not? With such great characters and fun story arches, what’s not to love about this Funimation anime? After the recent end of its second season, they were quick to announce the third season would premiere in sometime in 2018. Plus Ultra!

Tokyo Ghoul:re

The popular horror anime, Tokyo Ghoul, is also set to receive another season next year. This is technically the sequel to the original anime and manga series but will look at different characters in the same universe. It will take place two years after the events of Tokyo Ghoul, and I’m stoked to get another glimpse of this universe.

Sword Art Online: Alicization

The newest season of Sword Art Online was an announcement that I definitely wasn’t expecting, but I’m also pretty ok with it. Kirito will lead the pack once again in his virtual adventures, but let’s jope he doesn’t get sucked into another game…again.

Seven Deadly Sins is also set to release its second season next year on Netflix (for real this time). Another edition of the Fate series, Fate/Extra The Last Encore, will premiere next winter amongst a plethora of other animes. This list is only skimming the surface of all the awesome animes that are set to come out over the next year.

Did we miss one that you’re really looking forward to? Or which of the ones listed above are your most anticipated? Let us know in the comments below!
