There are many hazards on the roads for drivers and even pedestrians, but one would never expect e-bikes to be among the most dangerous. Recently, people in Scottsdale, Arizona, have been complaining about e-bike accidents across the city. While some involve e-bike owners harming themselves while riding, others have also noticed that e-bike riders have been messing with other drivers, with some not even respecting signage and causing perilous situations for all.

A Reddit user shared an article from the Scottsdale Progress discussing how e-bike-related injuries have been rising significantly in the city. According to the report, there have been incidents of teenagers riding their e-bikes and wreaking havoc in the streets and in some public areas, such as parks. However, some of these situations have ended in violence, which has also led to injuries.

According to the report, in recent years, most calls involving e-bike owners have resulted in hospital rides. This is extremely alarming, as it seems most of the time it is due to teenagers not wearing the required protective gear when using e-bikes.

Now, while many agreed that the whole e-bike debacle is getting out of hand, and some even empathized with the owners, some had a different opinion.

Several citizens started saying that e-bikes are a danger not only to their owners but also to people on the street. Some teenagers do not even look at the traffic lights when crossing and go 30 MPH in low-speed zones, which often leads to accidents. And while those riding these vehicles are primarily to blame, some believe the fault lies with others.

Arizona Residents Blame Irresponsible Parents for E-Bike Accidents

The majority of Redditors in the thread, besides sharing their frustration with these e-bike situations, also heavily criticized the parents, as they are the ones allowing their children to own e-bikes in the first place.

“Parents’ fault.“

“These kids are messed up…but they are young enough that it is the parents’ fault. Kids will always be like this.“

Others even shared personal experiences with e-bike owners, claiming that riders have been extremely careless.

“There are at least ten kids in my neighborhood that ride these and cut off cars because it’s funny and they don’t care.“

People are hoping for the authorities to eventually intervene because these incidents are getting out of hand. Plus, besides putting e-bikers in danger, they are also harming others in the street, which shouldn’t happen.
