A California Karen wasn’t happy about having to drive behind a few motorcyclists while looking for a parking spot. After laying on her horn, she decides to park her car and then find them. These riders are irritated as the woman then finds them and complains about the fact that they took up too much space while riding.
Johnny (@fqzaxon) was riding his motorcycle with some friends in a Burlingame parking lot. He and his friends were riding close together when a woman “slotted in” with her vehicle between them. Johnny records them entering the parking lot and shows how closely the woman is following them with her vehicle. At one point, she even tries to pass him, which can be dangerous for a rider.
As the woman gets closer and closer, she tries to pass and is unable to do so. It’s at that point that she lays on her horn to let Johnny know she’s trying to pass by him. But everybody in that parking lot is just looking for a spot, so he continues looking without letting this impatient woman pass. She continues blowing her horn at Johnny so he comes to a stop so that he can confront her. But then, she takes the opportunity to finally drive around him and find a parking spot. While doing so, she almost strikes one of Johnny’s friends on their motorcycle!
Soon, Johnny and his friends find a parking spot. The woman finds a spot as well and comes marching toward them. As she’s walking by, she gestures at Johnny and shouts, “You take this WHOLE space!” Johnny cries back, “Yeah, because we’re all looking for parking, just like you!” All she can say back is, “You’re on motorcycles!” as if that matters.
The entire situation leaves Johnny and his friends feeling baffled. He asks his TikTok audience, “Would it have been okay if I was in a car?” The way that the situation unfolded “ruined the rest of my day,” according to Johnny.
The video received an outpouring of support for Johnny and various reactions from commenters. As one commenter mentioned, they don’t think Johnny verbalized just how serious this situation was. She stated, “I’ve cussed people out for less. I’m not satisfied.” Another commenter pointed out that when she said, “You’re on a motorcycle,” he could have responded with, “Even more reason you shouldn’t be trying to go around me. I’m exposed to the road and you’re protected by metal.”
Others pointed out in the comments that drivers don’t respect motorcyclists enough on our roads. One commenter stated, “People are soooo disrespectful to motorcyclists, it’s unbelievable.” Another commented, “A motorcycle is a street legal vehicle just like any other and deserves your respect for safety and boundaries.” Commenters continue to discuss important issues regarding motorcyclists and safety in the video’s comments.
