Baldur’s Gate 3 gives players the freedom to do whatever they want, whenever they want. If you want to be an evil character and raze an entire town, you can do it. If you want to save those in need while exploring, that’s valid, too. For the latter, there’s one character that you’ll find when exploring Druid Grove. Findal, who is supposed to guard the back entrance of Druid Grove, is in danger, and you can change his fate if you hurry up. In this guide, we’ll tell you how to save Findal in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Save Findal in Baldur’s Gate 3
Before we go into details on how to save Findal in Baldur’s Gate 3, we must point out that saving him might be time-sensitive. During our first run, when we found Findal, he was already dead. However, the second time we went inside the Underground Passage, we saw him with one 1HP left and surrounded by Goblins. This means that going to him as soon as you enter Druid Grove is your best bet to save him. If you’re in this situation, here’s how you can rescue him:
Finding Findal
Before you try to rescue Findal, you must find him. The easiest way to reach him is by heading to Druid Grove and the Makeshift Prison area, where the Goblin is being held captive.
From there, jump down to the ledge and jump left to discover a stone door (perception check required). If you spot the door, all you have to do is enter it and begin your rescue operation.
Deactivating the Traps
You’ll notice a group of Goblins around Findal that will prevent you from saving him in Baldur’s Gate 3. On top of that, there are Guardian Statues that will shoot at you if you’re not careful. Since you have the work cut out for you, here’s the recommended approach to this situation:
- Enter the Underground Passage from the Makeshift Prison area and hide (press “C” on your keyboard).
- Ungroup your party and take control of your character with the highest sneaking skill (Astarion is a good choice).
- Head to the Rune on the wall to disable the Guardian Statue. Wait until the Goblin turns around.
- Deactivate the statue and group your party again so they catch up with you.
How to Heal Findal
If the traps are gone, it is time to save Findal in Baldur’s Gate 3 finally. While the game doesn’t explicitly say it, there are many ways to heal and rescue certain NPCs. Before doing it, though, you need to take care of the Goblins. The fight is relatively easy as there are only four enemies, but it might take some planning since the muddy ground hinders movement speed. This is what you should do:
- Have your ranged characters focus on the melee Goblin.
- Make your melee characters dash toward the ranged Goblins.
- If you have Astarion, use his Cunning Action: Hide to score Sneak Attacks.
Doing the above steps will let you defeat this group of Goblin invaders and leave you to heal Findal. You can do it in two different ways. Throw a potion at him by pressing “X” on your keyboard, select the potion from your inventory, and throw it at him. Alternatively, you can use any healing spell like Cure Wounds on him.
After that, he’ll stand up, thank you, and run to tell the other Druids what happened. And, if you want a reward for this, we have a guide that shows everything you can loot from the Underground Passage.
