Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t even out yet and it is already setting unbelievable expectations. Developer Larian Studios wanted to make the biggest RPG ever and it seems, in some ways, it has accomplished its goal. Baldur’s Gate 3 will have an astonishing 17,000 possible endings for its story and 174 hours of cutscenes. According to the developers, the game is so jam-packed with content, that to see everything with just one single character, it will require at least 18 playthroughs. So, if you’re looking forward to Baldur’s Gate 3, know that you’ll be playing it for quite a while.
Larian has set the bar so high that it has prompted other game developers to say that this may set unrealistic expectations for fans. However, that shouldn’t be the case. Not many studios have that kind of time, resources, and amount of people working on a single project. So, this is far from what every RPG needs to aim for or can even achieve.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Has a Massive Story & Thousands of Endings
The amount of playtime and endings was confirmed by one of the writers at Larian Studios, who said in an interview that it took her six months of work just to make the game’s story endings alone. Of course, this does not mean that every single ending is completely unique. These endings will likely have slight variations from one another depending on the choices made during the course of the story.
For people who can’t wait to get their hands on Baldur’s Gate 3, they won’t have to wait much longer since the game is coming out for PC in only a few weeks on August 3. Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 players will have to wait until September to finally play the game. Xbox owners have seemingly drawn the shortest straw since the Series X and S versions are still being worked on. Larian has confirmed that it is specifically working on getting split-screen co-op working properly on the Series S. If it takes too long, the feature might be removed altogether.
