While Enshrouded guides players during their first hours, base building is something they must discover by themselves. While many games of the genre encourage you to have bases in different places, this one takes a different approach. By building and upgrading a single one, you can travel to it anytime and make it the fortress of your dreams. However, it takes a while to get started and learn how the building system works in this title.
How To Build Your First Base in Enshrouded
When you fire up the game and leave the small tutorial cave, you’ll see that one of the objectives is finding a good spot to settle down and start building your first base in Enshrouded. However, it might be a bit daunting for some to begin. There are already many pieces to choose for your construction, and with the game crafting a hundred blocks each time, it can confuse many. Luckily for you, we have a few tips to help you get started.
Getting Started
To build anything, you’ll need a few materials and tools first. For our starter home, we’ll use plant fiber for the roof and wood for the other structures. Also, you’ll need a Construction Hammer, which you can craft with one stone. Once you have it, all you have to do is press your TAB key to begin.
The Foundations
Before we begin, we must be clear that we aren’t Bob the Builder when it comes to constructing something, nor are we Bob Ross in terms of creativity. Still, we have some basic ideas to help you survive your first days in the game.
First, you need to find the land you want to claim, and thankfully, the game suggests a good spot. If you’re going for it, you can begin with a 4×4 grid to place your base’s first building. Each time you build any building block, it’ll produce 100 blocks. When building, you’ll see each piece use different blocks. Some walls use 30, others 60, and so on. Foundations use 256 blocks, so get ready to gather a lot of wood. Also, we recommend keeping the Flame Altar inside. Nothing important, mechanically speaking, but it looks good.
Walls and Windows
This might seem obvious, but every base needs a sturdy pair of walls. You can go with the good old Minecraft technique of just making a box to live in, but the game also gives you a few windows to play with. This is mostly aesthetic, but we recommend letting some light in. Also, by this time, you might already be running low on building blocks. Each stack of 100 building blocks costs 2 pieces of wood. If you want different materials, you’ll need to gather them, but for starters, we recommend going for wooden structures only.
Covering Your Base
Last but not least, we have the roof. It is important to remember that walls and roofs use different building blocks. Here, we went for the stone roof because we feel Flintstone and Stone are easier to farm than Plant Fiber. Once you have enough materials, craft your four corners, as many roof sides as you need, and flat roof pieces to cover the middle.
Finishing Touches
Essentially, you now have what you need for your base in Enshrouded, but if you want, you can keep building things. We recommend focusing on adding some comfort items such as beds, fireplaces, illumination, and so on. All of them provide you with benefits and beautify your home in this gloomy land.
Ultimately, it is up to you to choose how much you want to exploit the base-building system in Enshrouded. Here, we recommend you make the most out of it. This system is quite deep and features many things that look cool and are quite useful, so feel free to experiment with any design in this little place you can call home.
